Day One Hundred Eighty Two 2012

IT WAS SO HOT…..
IMG_5645
I tried to fry an egg on the street this afternoon (didn’t want to have to clean up the sidewalk where people walk—except that it was so hot, nobody was outside walking). Our local time and temperature channel said it was 105 degrees. You’d think that was hot enough to fry an egg on asphalt.

Nope! The egg white never did cook and the yellow popped and eventually dried up in the heat. So, no, it was not “hot enough to fry an egg on the sidewalk”—or on the street. Still, not a good day for anyone to be outside.

Day One Hundred Seventy Nine 2012

Heat, ma'am! it was so dreadful here, that I found there was nothing left for it but to take off my flesh and sit in my bones. ~Sydney Smith, Lady Holland's Memoir

When I walk across my back yard, the grass crunches beneath my flip flops. Too hot to be outside. No rain in sight. And Summer just got started.

Day One Hundred Seventy Eight 2012

Grandson Knox checking out the menu for supper at the new meat-n-three restaurant in our town—Family Traditions Café. We’ve been a couple of times before and loved the food. This time we took Knox’s daddy, Kerry. He loved it, too.

Knox couldn’t decide what to order, so he ate the menu.
