"All photographs are memento mori. To take a photograph is to participate in another person’s (or thing’s) mortality, vulnerability, mutability. Precisely by slicing out this moment and freezing it, all photographs testify to time’s relentless melt."— Susan Sontag

Day Forty 2011
Male cardinals are always a vivid shot of color on a gray winter's day. This one was busy snacking on seeds. I snapped his picture as he suddenly flew away. He looks frozen in mid air--a distinct possibility on this frozen day. It's snowing again.
Way to go, sis! Awesome shot! Love it. I spent part of the day taking pictures of birds on our feeders. It was a feeding frenzy. I love it when they look like they're hanging in mid air!
