Day Two Hundred Thirty Three 2010

Party! Elijah Celebrates His 4TH Birthday

Grandson Elijah turned 4 years old on Tuesday, August 17. Today he celebrated with a party at his house with lots of family to cheer him on.
The giant water slide is always a big hit at his Summer time birthday parties.

Elijah and his cousin Matthew splash in the pool at the bottom of the slide. Too cool!

I love this look on his face when his daddy started lighting his candles. Priceless.

He waited patiently to blow out his four candles while we serenaded him with the birthday song.

Big smiles from the birthday boy and his sister Shelby.

This happy kid is excited to be 4.

The Scooby Doo cake, made by Holly's friend Tammy, was delicious as always.

He couldn't wait to dig into his presents. He opened all his birthday cards, too.

The loot! Lots of new clothes and a bunch of cool toys.

The kids each took a whack at the Scooby pinata.

The mad dash to collect the scattered candy. Woo hoo! This party was great fun.

Happy Birthday, Elijah! Hope you have a totally fun year growing up to be five. Love you more than I can say and so proud to have an awesome grandson like you!

Day Two Hundred Twenty Nine 2010

Elijah Is Four!

Finally 4! Grandson Elijah celebrates his fourth birthday today, and not a minute too soon! He's been looking forward to this day for months.

His grandpa and I took him and sister Shelby to Cream City Ice Cream for a celebration ice cream cone.

He chose Superman and Rainbow Sherbet--the two most colorful flavors of ice cream in the freezer--and put them side by side in a dish. Shelby always goes for the chocolate.

I'm four years old!! And life is good. He woke up this morning to find a new play set in his backyard. It was Water Day at his school, so he got to play in the water and use his new Scooby Doo beach towel (courtesy of Granny). His mom baked cupcakes, and his class had a birthday party in his honor. They sang the birthday song and he blew out his candles.

He's growing up so fast!
Hard to believe he was ever this small.
And sister Shelby didn't quite know what to think of him. Hard to believe ....

... they'd become the good buddies they are today. Happy 4th Birthday, Elijah! Granny and Grandpa love you very much and hope all your birthday wishes come true!
