Day Forty 2011

Male cardinals are always a vivid shot of color on a gray winter's day. This one was busy snacking on seeds. I snapped his picture as he suddenly flew away. He looks frozen in mid air--a distinct possibility on this frozen day. It's snowing again.

Day Three Hundred Forty Seven 2010

Baby, It's COLD Outside!

I don't think the temperature rose above 15 degrees all day. We had a ton of snow--maybe 8 inches at my house. Flurries all day. I think it has finally stopped. Middle Tennessee doesn't normally experience this kind of cold and snowfall in December, and it's still officially Fall. It's so beautiful, but I'm ready for it to be gone already. So much to do! So little time!

Day Three Hundred Thirty Eight 2010

The cardinals are back, looking for food. They usually start to show up in the back yard when the weather turns cold. They are a bright spot in the bleak landscape. Time to buy a big old bag of sunflower seed.

Wishing my Aunt Joy Brown a very happy 96th birthday today!! She played the keyboard, sang, and tap danced at her birthday bash this evening. She's always an inspiration. Like I always say: I want to be like her when I grow up!

Day Forty Six

The snow doesn't give a soft white damn whom it touches.

Another beautiful snow day in my back yard.

Day Thirty

Winter Says Hello

These icicles grew throughout the day. Check it out.

Little brown sparrow in a sea of white.

Eddie Kitty stayed outside all day romping in the snow.

It doesn't look like much, but this snow has shut this town down.

Still growing...

We have a Cardinal couple who come out when it snows, but they never seem to show up at the same time.

Last night the temperatures rose and it started to sleet, so we got a layer of ice over the snow. Around noon today, it started snowing again and covered the ice. Makes for a slick Winter sandwich.

The icicles had grown several inches by late this afternoon. Beautiful day. Hope everyone stays safe and warm.
