Day Two Hundred Ninety Four

Autumn Day

Each Fall, the leaves on the Maple in our back yard turn an awesome shade of red until the whole tree is literally blazing. The tree is still 95% green. A few leaves have turned and fallen, like this one, which begged me to take its picture. Happy to.

Still obsessed with the cuteness of mushrooms ... snapped a picture of these while waiting on the hill out back for Shelby after school this afternoon. Looks like a little fairy garden. And the blue sky is still with us. What a beautiful day!

Day Two Hundred Ninety Three

Toboggan caps feel pretty good these chilly mornings on the way to school. Elijah and Shelby modeled theirs this afternoon and wore them while jumping on the trampoline. Elijah's says Tuff Dog and has a picture of his beloved Scooby Doo. Shelby's hat has the Capshaw Cougar paw print.

What a couple of ham bones!

Day Two Hundred Ninety Two

"My Books Came Today!!!"

Grand daughter Shelby was oozing glee this afternoon after school because the books she had ordered arrived. It was a boxed set of seven books called 'The Pet Fairies' by Daisy Meadows. She really got into reading last year. She loves to borrow them, and she loves to own them. I've never seen a kid so excited over a box of books.

I hope the thrill of reading always sticks with her. I can relate. It's pretty much all I did as a kid. Still do. Way to go, Shelby!

Day Two Hundred Ninety

When daughter Kelly comes into town, we have coffee. Today we went to the Cafe Dolce on the square in our fair town of Cookeville, where Kelly treated Neil and me to a Dolce Caramel Latte with whipped cream on top. On a cold damp chill you to the bones day like today, just holding the cup was heavenly. The coffee wasn't bad, either. Thanks, Kelly!
