Shades Of Gray
Had some fun with the monochrome setting on my Rebel this afternoon. I forget about black and white most of the time. Laid back Saturday filled up with food and football and a nice little nap. Did your team win? Mine did! The Vols beat Western KY 52~20. Woot!

Day Seventy One 2013
Sunny day
Chasing the clouds away
On my way
To where the air is sweet …
Grandpeeps Shelby and Elijah are on the second week of their spring break. We spent the day together, attached to our iPad minis and computer, until we realized we were missing out on a perfectly gorgeous day outside.
Sunny blue sky day with a cool wind ~ who could resist the tree swing?
We enjoyed some low tech fun blowing bubbles.
And letting the wind do the work sometimes
Hard to catch, bubbles are
Couldn’t let the sunny day go by without making a gratuitous shadow picture
Then we trekked into the woods, looking for a swinging vine to no avail. Elijah contemplated this question mark shaped stick and thought it was interesting enough to take home with him.
Shelby had a great time hanging long limbs between tree trunks. It’s the little things, you see. We don’t need no stinkin iPads to have fun!
It was a beautiful day in the neighborhood which I enjoyed spending with my grandpeeps, especially once we escaped the house and went outside. I took pictures of bare trees and blue sky which always makes me happy and even found a cool walking stick [Shelby called it a ‘Gandalf stick’] [and if you don’t know who Gandalf is, Google it]. Can you tell me how to get … how to get to… ? You know the rest, don’t you? [if you don’t, Google it]

My little sister, Ann Mabry Sissom, turns 54 years young today. Happy Birthday, Ann!! Love & Hugs from me and Neil.

Day Two Hundred Thirty Four 2012
This And That
When daughter Kelly was here last week, she wanted to check out the local health food store. Wandering around in this aisle made me feel like I was at Hogwarts School For Witches and Wizards. I almost expected to run into Snape and his magic potion book.
I’d never heard of this, but I liked the name, so I Googled it. Mugwort is a perennial plant that is a member of the daisy/sunflower family and a relative of ragweed used traditionally as a healing herb to soothe the rash caused by poison oak. Apparently, you can smoke it to ‘enhance your dreams.’ Don’t say I never taught ya nothin’.
I’m still trying to walk every day, which I did this morning. The clouds in the blue sunny sky were pretty cool. That red thing is the sun flare off my cell camera lens.
Chain link fence made a cool shadow on the sidewalk. I know. I’m supposed to be walking, not taking pictures. I got my iPod out last night because it suddenly dawned on me that I could listen to my tunes while walking which certainly would make the walking more pleasant (and maybe drown out the screaming coming from my left knee). And I realized I have this little fitness app on there that will track my steps taken, miles walked, calories burned, time of walk, etc. It was a Eureka! moment (or more like Duh!) I walked over a mile this morning. Not too shabby for Kay’s creaky old knees.
This afternoon the grandkids Shelby and Elijah hit the trampoline for the first time in months. We had to sweep off all the dead leaves and limbs and bugs and such first before they could jump. Shelby showed Elijah how to do a handstand flip.
They love doing flips. They are fearless. (Which freaks me out sometimes.) They also batted the ball and we threw the Frisbee around for a while which was fun. Today was a beautiful day to be outside. The cooler temps and lower humidity make me long for Fall. But I’m not going to wish away the rest of the Summer. No way.

Wishing my sister Ann and her husband Terry a very happy 30TH wedding anniversary today! They are celebrating this milestone in their marriage at the beach this week. Love you guys!

Day Sixty Seven 2012
I was sitting on my front porch swing late this afternoon, enjoying some of this gorgeous day, when I noticed the shadow of my wicker rocker on the side of the house. Is it just me or does this look like some kind of happy monster with big googly eyes and a goofy smile? Made me smile.

Day Thirty Three 2012
Me and my Wal-Mart shopping cart saw our shadows today. I'm not sure what this could possibly mean in the grand scheme of things, weather-wise, other than the fact that today was yet another spring-like day with a ton of sunshine and blue sky, no clouds, with no sign of winter in sight. Six more weeks of....what? Spring-like weather? And then what? Wonder what spring has in store for us.

TGIF Snapshots And Sounds From My Front Porch
You'll probably have to scroll down to the bottom to mute or stop the songs playing from Playlist.com to hear the sounds on this short video. It was a beautiful day to be sitting outside on the front porch, listening to the wind play the wind chimes and blow through the trees. Peaceful. Happy TGIF, everyone!

Day Two Hundred Thirty Nine 2011
I love macro photography. A really good, really expensive macro lens is on my wish list (are ya listenin', Santa?). Recently, I was browsing lenses on Amazon.com and found a couple of really inexpensive macro and fish eye lenses from 47th Street Photo in Brooklyn, NY. They came in today and I've had some fun experimenting with in your face photography. (And a little fish eye lens photos just for fun.) For instance, I did not realize that Geranium leaves have hair. Those ants crawling around on that dead leaf (man, we need some rain!) were minuscule, and that ornate skeleton key is teeny tiny. And that red knobby thing is one of my little hobnail votives. It's more fun than a human being should be allowed to have with a digital camera.
