Day Sixty 2011
Grandpeep Shelby is hooked on Dolce Cafe hot chocolate, and grandpeep Elijah is hooked on Angry Birds. So daughter Kelly, son in law Kerry and I hit the Dolce Cafe this afternoon and treated these two to some kid-sized hot chocolate and a little Angry Birds action on Uncle Kerry's iPad. Good fun (in quiet tones) and good coffee, too.

Day Fifty One 2011
We had to scrap our plans to take the Grandpeeps roller skating again today since their parents came back from their trip earlier than we expected. Daughter Kelly and I took granddaughter Shelby for a quick trip to Dolce Cafe. Shelby had never been there before. She got some hot chocolate and loved it. Snapped this pic of her with my cell phone camera in the Solaris color setting. Isn't that the look of love? Dolce Cafe does have very tasty drinks. Nice way to end our weekend together. Now, look out, here comes Monday.

Day Thirty Five 2011
The Dolce caramel latte--looks good enough to drink, doesn't it? It was! Daughter Kelly treated me to one of these pretty lattes at the Dolce Cafe coffeehouse on the square here in our little town this afternoon before she and her hubby Kerry headed back home. A hot tasty treat on a cold and gray winter's TGIF.

Day Forty Two
Worth Waiting For At The Pretentious Coffee House
That's Kelly in the brown jacket waiting in line at the Dolce Cafe on the square in Cookeville this afternoon. It's a nice treat to go there for some coffee on a cold day. Lots of people had the same idea it seems. We ended up with hot chocolate. Burned my tongue, of course. Totally worth it. Kelly couldn't drink much of her creamy dark chocolate hot cocoa because it's insanely rich. I warned her. Next time we'll just share one.

Day Thirty Five
Random Restaurant Shots
The kids were out of school Monday for a snow day. I promised Elijah a vanilla milk shake at Arby's after lunch. He wanted to go inside to drink the shake so that's what we did. Shelby got a chocolate shake, and they were so thick, we had to eat them with the straws. Plus they were on the dollar menu. Not too shabby.
This afternoon before daughter Kelly and son in law Kerry headed back to Murfreesboro, we stopped at the Cafe Dolce on the square in our little town. I didn't want coffee so I ended up with hot cocoa (that's what it said on the menu which has such small print you can't read it), but it was this dark chocolate that was thick and creamy and totally delicious and so rich I couldn't drink it all. Kelly and Kerry wanted to sample it--that's what the tiny coffee cup was for. When the guy set the little cup on the counter, I thought it was my hot cocoa. Duh
While we drank our coffee/chai/hot cocoa, a man stopped outside and tied his two dogs to the pole and came inside for something to drink. The wind was really cold today and we felt kind of sorry for the dogs out there. The yellow dog was shivering, but they waited patiently while their master had his coffee inside the warm cafe. Maybe I should have shared my hot cocoa with them.
Last week Neil and I ate lunch at McDonald's on South Jefferson and a man came in with this big German Shepherd. The dog had on a vest that said Service Dog. They must be regulars there because everyone behind the counter knew them. The man got his lunch and sat down in the booth right next to ours. When he went to get his coffee, I took a picture of his dog. You just don't see a German Shepherd in McDonald's every day.

Day Three Hundred Sixteen
Happy Birthday, Kelly!
Kelly Teresa Ranft Kimbrough was born on the snowy night of November 12, 1976, about half past midnight. Here she is with husband Kerry this afternoon at the Dolce Cafe on the square in Cookeville, enjoying her fave coffee (Dolce Caramel Latte).
Here she is at about a month old. God blessed us with Kelly 33 years ago (so hard to believe!how time flies!). She's loving, caring, and thoughtful, and the best friend anyone could have. She's always fun and always makes me laugh. The world would be a boring place without her in it. Loving you always, daughter, and wishing you all good things and fun times today and always.

Day Two Hundred Ninety
When daughter Kelly comes into town, we have coffee. Today we went to the Cafe Dolce on the square in our fair town of Cookeville, where Kelly treated Neil and me to a Dolce Caramel Latte with whipped cream on top. On a cold damp chill you to the bones day like today, just holding the cup was heavenly. The coffee wasn't bad, either. Thanks, Kelly!
