Day Two Hundred Five 2012

Today was back to school for the kids in our county—a two hour registration day. Grandkids Shelby and Elijah hung out with me after that, and we headed to Ocha for a rice and spicy chicken lunch, along with hubby Neil and daughter Holly. While we ate, we had a front row seat watching the city workers lay asphalt at the intersection of Tennessee Tech University and Ocha Thai Deli. Actually, I think it is Seventh Avenue and some other street whose name I can’t remember getting a makeover before college students return for classes. Hot, dirty, smelly work in this summertime heat. Makes me appreciate even more the ride over a nice smooth street.

Grandson Knox thought the spinning penny was way cool, and it amused him for quite some time. He wanted so badly to get his little hands on it, but he had to be content to look and not touch since literally everything he picks up goes straight into his mouth.

Granddaughter Shelby celebrated her 11th birthday this afternoon, partying with family and friends. The kids, big and small, enjoyed a huge water slide in the back yard. We all enjoyed that delicious cake. And Shelby really enjoyed the cash gifts inside all those birthday cards. What a totally fun way to turn eleven. As her birthday balloon says, Another Year Of Fabulous! Happy Birthday, Shelby!

Day Two Hundred One 2012

Ice cream is happiness condensed.   ~Jessi Lane Adams
I did not scream for ice cream at the D.Q. after lunch today. I was trying to be good, to resist the temptation. But my hubby is a bad influence when it comes to D.Q. treats. And besides, the grandkids were having ice cream cones, too, so who am I to say no to another pound of fat around my waist?
