Day Two Hundred One 2012

Ice cream is happiness condensed.   ~Jessi Lane Adams
I did not scream for ice cream at the D.Q. after lunch today. I was trying to be good, to resist the temptation. But my hubby is a bad influence when it comes to D.Q. treats. And besides, the grandkids were having ice cream cones, too, so who am I to say no to another pound of fat around my waist?

Day One Hundred Seventy Nine 2011

Grand daughter Shelby, always the artist, drew a face in her McDonald's ice cream cone at lunch today. We all agreed that it looked like the Disney fish, Nemo (of Finding Nemo fame). Cute face. Both of them.

Wishing my Big Brother Ken Mabry a very happy 62nd birthday today!! Love you always!!

Day Fifty 2011

Neil and I enjoyed watching our Grandpeeps Shelby and Elijah at the skating rink this afternoon. They are spending the weekend with us while their parents are out of town.

Elijah likes to skate, but I think he has more fun playing the arcade games at the rink.

Headed over to Cream City Ice Cream Shop for some frozen treats after skating. Elijah was so worn out, he almost fell asleep in the window seat.

We finally got a chance to check out the Cookeville Depot Museum. It's usually closed when we go for ice cream at Cream City, which is just across the street from the depot. Lots of cool railway memorabilia from a time long gone and totally lost upon these two, who would rather climb around inside the train cars than look at vintage steamer trunks and train schedules.
Daughter Kelly came in this afternoon and demonstrated her jump rope moves from back in the day. She's still got it! Good times! Great Saturday! Hope yours was, too!

Day Two Hundred Thirty Two 2010

I Heart Friday!

Grand daughter Shelby snacking on a Gummi Worm after school today. She struggled to my house with her loaded backpack (on the couch). Said her shoulders hurt. We put the backpack on the scales. It weighed 11 pounds. That's crazy.

I was craving something chocolate and the only thing in the kitchen was a bottle of chocolate milk. It was cold and pretty tasty and kind of...thick. Then, glutton for punishment that I am, I ate a couple of Gummi Worms. After a sudden "sick" moment later, I checked the expiration date on the chocolate milk. It died two weeks ago. Ack!

Pushing those glasses up on her nose again. She gets new ones soon. She says they're 'awesome'.

Daughter Kelly came in time for supper. Her fave spot is Ocha Deli beside TTU. Hey, look, it's open! Yum!

Afternoon shadows stretched along West Side where we headed to Cream City (more gluttony!).

West Side around the depot has developed into a cool place over the past few years. Lots of artsy shops and restaurants.

I love the name of this shop that sells tie dyed clothing and bags and such. I'm going to have to browse in here sometime.

All sorts of tasty frozen treats to be had at Cream City.

Double scoop (which I did not need but that's so beside the point) of Mint Tracks ice cream in a waffle cone. The chunks of chocolate are heavenly. (If I'd known we were coming here, I wouldn't have drunk that dead bottle of chocolate milk.....)

All aboard! Kelly says she'd love to go on a train ride sometime. I said maybe one that has a dining car....

And the sun slowly sets on our TGIF. Hope yours had an unexpected treat or two. Wishing everyone a marvelous weekend!

Day Two Hundred Thirty 2010

Wet Wednesday And Random Stuff

"It's clobberin' time!" The Thing says so. He was the toy in Grandson Elijah's happy meal at Mickey D's at lunch today. Have you ever noticed how angry most 'super heroes' are? I guess I'd be angry too if my clothes got all torn up every time I turned into a super hero.

Um....didn't we do this yesterday? He wanted an ice cream cone with sprinkles but opted for chocolate dipped instead. Either way, it's a win-win deal. The Thing isn't happy about it, though.

It rained so much here today that all the Nashville network affiliates sent news crews to our not so fair but flooded town to interview people and take pictures of the devastation. I didn't get any pictures of that, but I did get this raindrop/spiderweb art on my back porch. Can you say wet? Schools are closed on Thursday. We sure didn't need the flood, but I'm liking the cooler temperatures. Hope you are safe and dry where you are right now.

Day Two Hundred Seventeen 2010

I Scream!

Grandkids Shelby and Elijah scope out the tasty frozen choices at the Marble Slab Creamery this afternoon.

It all came down to chocolate and vanilla--classic flavors. Shelby got two different flavors of chocolate and Elijah chose Birthday Cake and good old vanilla. Stuffed inside a waffle cone coated in white chocolate and sprinkles.

"Granny, if I eat all this, I'll get sick." (He took his chances.)

Yum! It even smells good.

Lick!Lick!Lick! Gooood stuff! Fun times!

Day Two Hundred Fifty Five

You Lookin At Me?

Elijah thoroughly enjoyed his DQ ice cream cone with sprinkles Friday at lunch. He can tell you that Granny's camera is pretty much always lookin at him. I'm almost sure that's why he had this expression on his face.

Day Seventy Seven

Neil and I were sitting in the D.Q. today at lunch and I got out my cell phone to take a picture (for the day) and I realized I had color settings on there I'd never noticed before. Besides the normal, there's vivid, negative (I took a couple of weird pictures of Neil and the ice cream cone with that one) and sepia and black and white and one called solari. While my chocolate covered ice cream cone slowly melted, it posed for a snapshot in the solari setting, which turned out pretty cool. A whole new world of photography with my cell phone opened up for me today. What fun! Someday I'll show you those weird negative pics.
