EASTER
Granddaughter Shelby, grandson Elijah and son in law Jerry stylin on this soggy Easter Sunday.
The Myers Family ~ Shelby, Elijah, Jerry and Holly
Neil and me with our Myers Peeps
This is grandson Knox’s second Easter.
Holly and the kids made these beautiful Easter eggs and deviled eggs. Delicious eye candy!
Elijah looks like the mushroom character in Mario Bros. with his Easter basket on upside down.
Niece Sarah lovin on Shelby
We were forced to hide eggs in the house this year, but that just made the hunt more of a challenge. Sort of.
Knox was excited about his Elmo Easter basket.
The hunt spilled out onto the front porch where Elijah checks out the contents of one of his eggs.
Knox got into the hunt ~ with a little help from Aunt Holly.
I love this smile on Elijah’s face. Makes me smile.
Sarah is beyond the egg hunt stage, but she did have to look for her prize egg which she found in the kettle on the woodstove.
Niece Julia found her prize egg pretty easily, too.
And so did Shelby.
It took Elijah a while to locate his. Grandpa hid it well.
My Easter Peeps ~ Elijah, Sarah, Knox, Julia, and Shelby. I love our Easter egg hunt tradition which means more to me each year as these kids grow older. Love all of you!
“I’m all ears!” What’s Easter without a chocolate bunny?!
Happy Easter!

Day Eighty Seven 2013
Easter Egg Hunt
Peeps! My grand peeps Shelby and Elijah got a half dozen chicks in time for Easter. Daughter Holly brought them to my house today so Elijah’s first grade class could enjoy them during their Easter egg hunt.
Holly and one of the other first grade moms came to the house this morning to set up for the egg hunt and lunch. I love those Easter egg plates and checked napkins.
Elijah has been looking forward to his class egg hunt all month long.
Neil and I enjoy hosting the kids’ egg hunts. Our yard is conveniently across the street from their school. I’m so glad they had a beautiful sunny day for the hunt.
Each egg is numbered, and each child looks for the eggs with his or her number on it. Elijah is number 16. Finding your eggs takes time because you have to look at every egg to see if your number is on it. Makes the egg hunt last longer.
Elijah and his classmates gathered for a group shot. Love those smiles.
They were surprised by the chicks and got a kick out of watching them in the cage. One of the chicks escaped a couple of times. We had to keep a close eye on them. Our neighbor kitty Lily was very interested in the peeps.
Who wants pizza? I do! I do! They had pepperoni pizza and cheese pizza. Most of them chose the cheese. I can tell you it was yummy.
After lunch they played games like egg toss and this game where you try to walk while balancing an egg on a spoon without dropping it. Classic. I think all the kids had a great time at their Easter party. I know I had fun just watching them having fun. The Easter egg hunt is such a wonderful tradition. I’m happy to still get to be a part of it with my grand peeps.

Day One Hundred Fourteen 2011
Easter Egg Hunt! The kids had fun hunting eggs this afternoon in our back yard. Finding their prize eggs was a challenge, but they prevailed (after a little coaching by the people who hid the eggs a little too well). This is one of my favorite times of the year. I love keeping this tradition with my PEEPS! Happy Easter!

Day One Hundred Eleven 2011
We hosted grand daughter Shelby's 4th grade class Easter egg hunt today. They were blessed with perfect weather for their hunt. Shelby and her mom colored these eggs to use in two of the games they played. Easter is definitely the most colorful time of the year!
Each of the 23 students had 23 numbered eggs to find. Let me tell you, that's a LOT of eggs to hide, so most of them we just scattered around the yard.
They all got off to a running start, but the action soon slowed down when they had to look for eggs with specific numbers on them.
Shelby was #14.
Counting eggs and checking out the goodies inside!
They used the real eggs for this relay race. It's not easy keeping those wobbly eggs on a little spoon while you try to race across the yard to a certain spot and then have to walk backward without dropping the egg and hand it off to your partner.
They used the real eggs for an egg toss game which somehow turned into a food fight. Needless to say, teacher did not appreciate that. I guess the temptation was just too much.
I think they all had a good time. This is their last egg hunt as students. Next year, as 5th graders, they all head off to middle school and won't get to enjoy such activities at school. Makes me feel a little sad for them. They grow up way too fast.
