Day One Hundred Forty Seven 2012

IMG_5148
It’s that time of year again—sweet corn! Found some yummy ears at Kroger this afternoon. Wish I’d bought more.

Also bought some Salmon for two. This was farm grown Atlantic Salmon for $4.99 a pound. The lady in front of me at the seafood counter bought the wild Alaskan Salmon for $14.99 a pound. I’ll bet mine tasted every bit as good as hers did.

We bought these Fiesta plates at the Nashville Flea Market yesterday. It was the only thing I bought. I love that they’re square, and I love the colors of Fiesta ware. I told Neil that some grilled Salmon would taste great on these plates. And some fresh corn on the cob.

And it did! Neil grilled some of the best Salmon I’ve ever eaten. And the corn was sweet and juicy. Are you hungry yet?

This is me, enjoying my scrumptious meal.

Juicy red sweet seedless watermelon for dessert! It is officially summertime!

We drove over to Dogwood Park to see what that awesome fountain looks like at night. It is lit up with ever-changing colors—red, yellow, purple, blue, green, gold. Really beautiful. Lots of people there, splashing in the water, even at 9:30 pm.

Neil and I plan to hang out here as often as possible.

Day One Hundred Eighty Three 2011

Hubby Neil left his cap on one of the watermelons we bought today for our 4th of July get together. I just happened to notice it in passing. Neil tends to leave things like hats, glasses, keys, etc. in odd places (usually where he can't find them) so I don't think he intended this to be cute or funny. But since it is kinda cute and kinda funny, I had to take a picture and share it with you.

Day Two Hundred Fifteen 2010

Hanging Out With Elijah

Grandson Elijah is hanging out with me part time this week until his stint at Mother's Day Out starts next week. He looks like Mr. Tough Guy in this pic.

Had his "wife beater" undershirt on today. He gets a kick out of saying that. He also gets a kick out of those old Fisher Price Little People.

Twelve car pile up on Elijah Highway. Circus train involved. Massive Little People casualties. Somebody call 911.

Checking out the Ziploc bags of old toys his mom played with. Sometimes he runs across something interesting.

"Hey! It's E.T.!" he says, seeming amazed by that discovery. We watched that movie while we were in Florida recently.

He picked ChickFil-a for lunch. We checked out the giant watermelon sitting there.

Pay a dollar and guess the watermelon's weight. Money goes to a charity--I forget what. Maybe less than fifty but more than twenty five? Who knows. Just don't touch it or sit on it, please.

"Lick. Lick. Lick," as Steve would be thinking in the Cloudy w/Meatballs movie. I get a kick out of the Solaris color setting on my cell phone camera. And it's always a kick spending the day with my favorite Little Man, although he's not so little these days. Don't grow up too fast, Elijah!

Day One Hundred Seventy Eight 2010

Summer Sunday Afternoon

Red, ripe, juicy, sweet, seedless. What more can I say. Watermelon at Bistro Ranft was to die for.

"Look," says Neil, "a 45 degree triangle." He then proceeds to explain to me how those differ from an isosceles triangle. He can be so romantic.

Summer sky.

Hydrangea is one of my favorite flowers.

We have several that never bloomed until this year. I hear it's because of the rainy Spring.

Buddy Cat stopped by to sprawl out and watch me take pictures of hydrangeas. He likes to be where the people are. He's my good buddy (when he's not bugging me for food). Another new week. Have a good one, y'all!
