Day One Hundred Thirty Three 2011

Grandson Elijah was a little freaked out when Buddy Cat decided to snuggle with him on the couch this afternoon. Elijah is a bit gun shy with this cat, because in times past, Buddy has scratched and bit him (and in defense of them both, it happened when Elijah was younger and yanked his tale or got in his face). Our Buddy Cat is in very poor health and seems to want to be around us more than usual these days. He always snuggles with daughter Kelly when she's here and jumps up in hubby Neil's lap when he's upstairs playing video games. So these two stayed this way for quite a while. At least until Elijah had to make a trip to the bathroom. Buddy Cat was waiting for him when he got back.

Day Sixty Five 2011

I guess it was naive to think that the warmer temperatures were here to stay. I don't think it got out of the 30's today. Neil got a fire going in the wood stove, and that's where Buddy Cat parked himself for the rest of the day. During his recent trip to the vet, he was shaved to remove these big clumps of fur that had got all knotted up on his backside, so needless to say, the warmth from the fire felt pretty good on his naked skin. Only two more (official) weeks of winter. Good riddance, I say.

Day Sixty One 2011

Gratuitous pic of my kitty cat Buddy. He's thirteen years old. Looks pretty good here. I found out yesterday during a trip to the vet that he has jaundice which means he's got liver troubles. There's nothing to be done about that. Makes me sad to realize he doesn't have much time left. In the meantime, I'll take his picture and pat his little head more often.

Buddy Cat was in hog heaven this morning, sprawled out in front of the fire in the wood stove. He's been there all day, which is a good place to be on a December first, when even the sun is cold.

Buddy Cat may be getting old, but apparently he's still quick enough to capture a bunny rabbit and think nothing of it. He was very proud of his catch and presented it to me in true cat fashion--dropping it at my doorstep. You shouldn't have, Buddy. Really.

Another scorcher today. Buddy Cat enjoyed the ice cubes I slipped into his water dish. I've never understood why something that is forced to wear a fur coat year round refuses to stay indoors where it's cooler. Cats. Go figure.
