Day Three Hundred Nine

Chill Factor

Our Buddy Cat is stressed out it seems. Ever since the new cat, Eddie Kitty, arrived this past July, Buddy has been losing weight, hissing, snarling, and clawing at his human family, and, in general, royally ticked off--behavior that is totally unlike our usually laid back pet. Here he is at the vet this morning, being tested for thyroid malfunction and the dreaded heart worm.

Both tests came back negative, which was happy news. Then the doc said, "It's Prozac time." I thought he was joking. He said I'd be amazed at how many cats and dogs are being treated with Prozac. It was always my uneducated diagnosis that Buddy is miserable with the new cat in the family now and that this stress is having an adverse effect on his health. So our Buddy Cat needs an attitude adjustment. We're going to try the meds for a month and see what happens. The doc says it should help. The bad news is that if Buddy hasn't accepted Eddie by now, he never will. Oh well. It's always fun squirting medicine down a cat's throat. I may need a chill pill after it's all said and done.

Day Three Hundred Seven

A Walk In Capshaw Woods

The sky was insanely blue today. Makes me wish I was a bird so I could fly around in it.

Photographs never do the real thing justice. I love these blues and golds.

The trees in Capshaw Woods are pretty old. There are some giants in there.

The sun was shining through this yellow Maple leaf, making it glow.

Is it just me, or does this tree root resemble a rabbit head?

Down in the woods, looking toward Maple Avenue. All I could hear was the wind in the trees and the leaves crunching under my shoes.

I love these chilly, sunny, blue sky Autumn days. There is nothing else like it. I can't get enough of it. I'm glad I got to spend some time outside today walking in the woods.

Day Three Hundred Six

Hello, November!

Not a cloud in my sky this afternoon as I waited for Shelby after school. The trees in Capshaw woods are so pretty right now. A lot of them are already bare.

There she comes, just a walkin' down the street .... Shelby on her way to Granny's house after working hard at school all day--at this point, she's ready to dump the backpack, kick back with a Popsicle (usually a Bomb Pop) and watch something on Disney or Nick. Such a great kid! Love you, Shelby!!

Day Three Hundred Five

Who Could Possibly Sleep?!

Coffee (and coffee houses/cafes) loomed large in my weekend. When daughter Kelly is in town, as I've pointed out before, we have coffee. Saturday after lunch we headed over to the Dolce Cafe on our town square and enjoyed a Dolce Caramel Latte (with whipped cream). About three hours later, I found myself at Poets' coffee shop, also on our fair town square, along with daughter Kelly, nieces Sarah and Julia, and sister Jane. We sat around a big table and played Apples To Apples, a most excellent game (cards are involved). No coffee for me. I opted for a smoothie, and everyone else had either hot chocolate or a smoothie, or in Kelly's case, a bottle of some weird green liquid. We had the best time ever! Kelly has pictures to prove it. I forgot my camera. Duh! Then this afternoon, before Kelly headed back home, we dropped in at Starbucks for ... coffee.

If you take your own containers, you get a whole dime off the price of your coffee. Well, who could turn that offer down?! We brought our tumblers and had some delicious flavored coffee. Mine was a pumpkin spice latte. (With whipped cream....) Tis the season. These are Create Your Own Tumblers. They're fun to make.

Kelly sent her dad to save us a seat while we ordered the coffee. Uh, these would have been nice and comfy ....

but Neil thought hard chairs at a table would be so much better. (LOL!) It was all good. We got to hang out together for a little while longer before Kelly had to be on the road. She got home safe. I got to spend a fun weekend with my family. And to top it off, our Tennessee Titans beat the Jacksonville Jaguars 31-13!
Sure did hate to see October go! But I was thrilled to get my hour back at 2AM!
