Eddie has his game face on as he waits for Shelby after school this afternoon. He knows she'll be passing by soon. Could he be more ready to pounce? I think not.

Day Two Hundred Eighty Three
Happy (Random) Saturday!
Eddie kitty wore his UT Vols colors today.
This huge bee let me take his picture. He was holding on to the patio table umbrella and didn't seem to mind me getting up close and personal. He had these gnarly furry legs that looked more like a spider than a bee. I think he was in shock from the 56 degree temperature this afternoon. Even the bee had on some orange!
Neil has been busy the last couple of days repairing the dining room wall around the door we had installed in July. The installers totally destroyed the wall because they were forced to re route an electrical wire that ran underneath the window that use to be there. Neil is having to install all new Sheetrock to fix the mess they made. The fun never stops.
The University of Tennessee Volunteers beat the Georgia Bulldogs 45 to 19! Crompton looked like a quarterback today. UT fans hope this is a trend and not a fluke. Go VOLS!! I took this picture Friday of Elijah man checking out the orange and white Tennessee flag that hangs in our back yard.

Day Two Hundred Fifty Eight
Randomness ...
Elijah wanted to blow bubbles this afternoon. So we did. Major fun, as usual.
Raindrops caught in a spider's web looked cooler in person than in my picture.
We did have some sunshine today, but I didn't mind the mostly rainy day. We needed it.
After being sequestered in the bathroom all night and all day, Eddie Kitty is feeling much better and was ready to play ball again this evening. We still have to keep him inside for a few days "to let the male hormones get out of his system"--so says the Surgical Aftercare Procedure sheet the doc gave us. "Otherwise, he may get in a fight and infect the surgical site before healing and be very bad for him." Wouldn't want that to happen. Buddy Cat has already hissed at Eddie Kitty, so we have to make sure Eddie is closed off in the bathroom when Buddy is in the house. Sometimes Buddy doesn't play well with others. I hope by the end of the week, things will be back to normal. Whatever that is.
This creepy crawly worm with a weird flat head was trying to slither its way through my front door today. That didn't sound like a good idea to me. I tried to pick him up with a stick, but he wasn't slimy slick. He was sticky. So I blocked his path with the stick and re directed him toward the front porch. He eventually got the idea and slithered off elsewhere.

Day Two Hundred Fifty Seven
Eddie Kitty had his "manhood removal" surgery today. He is still zonked out. We've got him swaddled in a towel on the couch (on top of a piece of plastic) where we can keep a close eye on him. His white cell count was elevated, so we've got an anti biotic to give him when he's able to eat and drink again. We have to keep him indoors for several days until he's ready to rock and roll. I check him every few minutes just to make sure he's still breathing. Maybe he'll be back to his old self in a couple of days. I'll keep you posted.

Day Two Hundred Thirty Four
Attack Cat!
To begin with, I can't believe my hubby Neil sat there and allowed this to happen. Not only that, he let me take this picture. It's hard to take a clear photo when you're laughing. This is the second shot. Neil has definitely mellowed when it comes to cats. I'm sure those of you who have known him for a while will agree.

Day Two Hundred Twelve
Eddie kitty (that's what I'm calling him) was so laid back asleep on this cushion in this seen-better-days wicker rocker that, honestly, I thought he was dead. Then I saw his little fat belly pumping, so I didn't have to do kitty cat CPR. I had to take this picture through a window of the patio door (or porch door--we have no patio) because I knew if I went out there, he'd wake up and lose this cute pose. I tried sneaking out the front door, but by the time I got around to the back, he was already alerted by the snapping of twigs and branches (I'm not very stealthy). Oh well. That's why I photograph mushrooms.

sat on the back porch and enjoyed the show. Love those new
gutters!
has come loose from the lower corner of the screen
door. The new kitty comes in through the gap and
climbs the kitchen door, wanting to come in. He usually
can't find his way back out. Duh! Neil calls him Sherman.
I like the name Eddie or maybe Ernie. Buddy doesn't like
him no matter what his name is!
our BLT's. He could smell the bacon frying and wanted
in on the action.
past Thursday. They were huge and red and juicy and the
first thing I thought of when I saw them was "BLT!" Thanks
for the tomatoes, Ann!
mayo (the real stuff!) and a big slice of Ann's tomato on fresh
whole grain bread. And on the side a bowl of tomato soup and
a glass of icy Coke Zero. Doesn't get any better than this, folks!

Day Two Hundred One
It's A Boy!
After two weeks of thinking this kitty cat is a girl, it turns out
that she is actually a HE. Took him to the vet this afternoon
to have him checked out. The vet nurse turned him over and
said "Boy!" So Sally will have to be renamed something else
more manly, I suppose. I imagine Shelby will want to
call him Sammy after an identical cat she had when she was a
toddler. I'm thinking Sandy is a cute name. Stay tuned. His
little leg was shaved and the doc drew blood to test for feline
leukemia and heart worms--both negative, thank God! And he
got some worm medicine and orders to return in twelve weeks
to begin vaccinations and later on neutering. (ouch!)
Buddy cat did not want to leave the safety of his carrier. He knows
what's coming--shots in the bottom. But he took it well. He also got
worm medicine--this gel stuff they put on the top of his head. The
doc says it covers every kind of worm infestation. That's very cool.
Buddy is mad at me anyway, I think, because of the new kitty at the
house. On the way home from the vet, he was riding next to me in
the front seat in his carrier, and I looked at him and asked, "Buddy,
are you mad at me?" He just closed his eyes and turned his head
away. I think I got my answer. Like a knife right through the heart!
And now he's got another male to compete with. Bad karma all the
way around.
And last but not least, the installers made their final appearance
at the house this afternoon and finished off the siding along the
back porch and trimmed around the new door. We're so happy
with the results. Still got to paint some stuff. Neil put up a new
motion sensor front porch light and a new back porch light by
the kitchen door. Things are shaping up!
