Day Two Hundred Forty Eight 2010

Labor Day Weekend Family Get Together At The Sissom's

The gang's all here--except Don and Sarah who arrived after the group shot. Around the table from left: Kerry Kimbrough, Kelly Kimbrough, Shelby Myers, Julia Foy, Ann Sissom, Terry Sissom, Shaun Scantland, Evan Mabry, Chris Mabry, Jerry Myers, Holly Myers (holding up new pup Charlie) Ken Mabry, Neil Ranft, Ashley Mabry, Elijah Myers (in there somewhere) Jane Foy, and Ethan Mabry. And Jessica Cat who thought Charlie Pup looked like a tasty morsel.

Kelly's turtle brownies. Yum!

Pork BBQ, Chris's hash brown casserole, Don's cole slaw, Ann's potato salad, and Terry's baked beans made a totally delicious meal. FYI: the baked beans had a pound and a half of bacon in them. That's the truth, folks.

Cousins Ashley, Shelby, Elijah, Julia and Ethan hanging out on the hammock. They all had a great time together.

Terry lit the fire in the fire pit and out came the marshmallows for roasting and toasting.

Terry, Neil and Jerry chillin'. Neil landed four in a row in a corn hole game. Way cool. Wish I'd got some action shots.

Julia, Shaun and Terry hanging out around the fire pit.

Ethan and Chris roast some 'mallows (we call them mellows). Ken is chillin' after that big meal.

We couldn't have asked for nicer weather today. Not a cloud in the deep blue sky, lots of sunshine and a chill in the air. Jerry and Elijah warm up at the fire pit. The night air got really chilly.

Big hugs for Ann and Terry from Elijah. He had a great time.

Ken, Evan and could that possibly be me?! having a little fireside chat.

Jane, Kelly, pup dog Charlie, Sarah and Elijah, who was giving out more goodbye hugs.

Hard to believe another Labor Day Weekend get together has already come and gone. Apologies for not getting everyone in pictures--I ended up with a bunch of blurry ones for some reason. Not to mention that I didn't want to get up again once I'd settled in front of the fire. Too cozy. Thanks to sister Ann and brother in law Terry for once again hosting a most excellent family get together. Everything was fabulous as always and the time we spend together always flies by way too fast. I always thank God for blessing me with such a wonderful family. Love you all!

Day Two Hundred Forty Seven 2010

gOOd StUff

Fall preview. Not a cloud in the deep blue sky and cool temps made for an awesome day today. This little Maple leaf is showing its true colors.

Daughter Kelly and son in law Kerry came in today. We sat on the porch and enjoyed this gorgeous afternoon. Then we headed to daughter Holly's house to visit.

And look who we met. This little pup dog is the newest member of the Myers family. He's a miniature chocolate Doberman Pincer (of sorts). He's not quite five weeks old. His name is Charlie Brown. Charlie for short. Or you can call him Chuck if you like.

Charlie is totally adorable, so cute you could squeeze the stuffing out of him. These kids are already in love with him.

Puppy Love! That's good stuff.

Day Two Hundred Forty Six 2010

Friday = Hooray!

Elijah (in Solaris color setting, cell phone camera) playing Mario Brothers on Shelby's Nintendo. He's getting pretty good at video games.

Shelby on her way to Granny's house (Solaris--it's getting so I take more pictures with my cell phone camera than with my big camera).

A gorgeous Friday in my backyard--temperatures in the high 70's. Awesome!

Headed over to Cream City Ice Cream Shop for a frozen treat this afternoon. Granny is out of Bomb Pops and ice cream sounded yummy. The sky kept looking like it was going to rain, but the sunshine prevailed.

We never need an excuse to get an ice cream cone, but since Shelby did so well making mostly A's and a couple of B's so far this school year, she deserved a cool treat.

Neil's RC plane dropped out of the sky last evening for no good reason and plummeted to the hard ground, nose first. He looked for it until he ran out of daylight. Went back early this morning--sunrise--and looked some more. No luck. Then his co-worker and fellow RC plane enthusiast, Clay, found it later this morning. He took these pics.

Gravity 1 - RC plane 0. Nothing much left to salvage. Too bad. Neil said it was one of his favorite planes to fly. Hope your long Labor Day Weekend soars with good times! Safe landings, everyone!

Day Two Hundred Forty Five 2010

Adventures At The Car Wash

My car was a filthy mess so I ran it through the car wash today. Thought I'd take a few pics to distract myself since I'm so crazy claustrophobic. After the wash, I vacuumed it, because it was equally as filthy on the inside as it was on the outside. To move my electric driver's seat forward so I could vacuum the back floorboard, I had to switch on the ignition--which automatically locks the doors. Which I totally forgot when I slammed the back door shut and reached to open the front door. Locked out. Car running. CD playing. Air conditioner blasting. Purse on the front seat. Cell phone inside the purse. I went to find a phone so I could call Neil to come and rescue me. I ran into one of the attendants and told him what I'd done. He asked me what kind of locks the car has. I told him and he just grinned and said, "I can open it." He went to get his breaking and entering tool. You've heard of that movie Gone In Sixty Seconds ? He had the door open in less than a minute. Which just goes to show you if somebody wants inside your car bad enough, he can get in. No problemo. For that I was thankful. And I hope there won't be a next time.

Day Two Hundred Forty Four 2010

Good Pup Snoopy

My daughter Holly's family lost their beloved pet Snoopy today. He was a little dog with a big bark who loved to play fetch. He would bring you a ball or toy, wanting you to throw it so he could chase it and bring it back to you. Funny thing was he refused to let go of the toy. You had to just about yank his teeth out to get it away from him. But I guess that was really the game for him. He was a good buddy, a little pup dog who was such a big part of the Myers family. He most certainly will be missed.

Rest in peace, Snoop Dog.
