Day Three Hundred 2010

Trunk Or Treat~2010~Jefferson Avenue Church Of Christ

Granddaughter Shelby carved this pumpkin. It was part of her family's trunk decorations.

Grandson Elijah, granddaughter Shelby, niece Julia and niece Sarah in their costumes and ready to have some fun.

Sarah and friends dressed as characters from the TV show 'Glee'.

More glee! My sis Jane is ready to feed the spooks.

I'm Batman. Grandson Elijah decided to be Batman for trunk or treat. He says for "real Halloween" he'll be Scooby Doo.

Daughter Holly carved this pumpkin. It was part of her trunk decorations.

The Witch and the Wolf.

Granddaughter Shelby was a candy corn witch.

Rawr! That's son in law Jerry under all that fierce-ness.

Feeding the spooks. The little girl in the yellow looks like she's screaming. The Wolf was pretty scary.

Julia was a bag of jelly beans, Sarah was Rachel from 'Glee' and daughter Kelly and son in law Kerry came as their bad selves. I know I was scared.

Counting candy contest. Make a guess, win a jar of candy.

Guess who won the jar of Reese's Pieces. Holly guessed the amount and put down Elijah's name. Her guess was 2500 pieces. The actual amount was somewhere around 2350. Trunk or Treat is always a blast. The costumes and trunks are always fabulous and creative. The goodies are always delicious. And the fellowship is always uplifting. Not to mention it's a great dress rehearsal for Halloween this Sunday.
P.S. It was son in law Kerry who guessed the number of Reese's Pieces in the jar. Elijah may have to share his prize :)

Day Two Hundred Ninety Nine 2010

He's Just Getting Started...

Grandson Elijah enjoyed his Halloween party at school today. They got to dress up in their costumes (he is Scooby Doo) and go trick or treating. Here he is with his stash of goodies he collected. Not too shabby.
And this is only round one. Tomorrow evening is trunk or treat at church and then Halloween is Sunday. It's the most wonderful time of the year--for dentists.

Day Two Hundred Ninety Eight 2010

It's Under There Somewhere

The sky tried hard to be blue today but never quite made it. Storms swept through here last night, but apparently I slept through it all, which is good. I'd much rather be asleep than laying awake, wondering if a tree is going to fall on the house. A limb did hit the car, barely missing the windshield, and put a dent in the roof. We need the rain, but I can live without the bluster.

Day Two Hundred Ninety Seven 2010

Blast From Halloween Past

October 31, 2006, Halloween. Nieces Sarah and Julia were Veggie Tales characters, daughter Kelly was a Giant's football player, Shelby was a cowgirl, and Elijah was a two month old baby pumpkin. Can't wait to see what their costumes will be this year! Stay tuned.

Day Two Hundred Ninety Six 2010

"The clump of maples on the hill,
And this one by the door,
Seem redder, quite a lot, this year
Than last, or year before..."
~~David L. Cady
October In Vermont

The little poem also applies to October in Tennessee. The leaves on our red maple by the back door are on fire. What will I take pictures of when they're all gone?
