Day Three Hundred Thirty Seven 2010

Grand daughter Shelby was awarded a 3rd Place ribbon today for her 4H speech. Her whole class had to participate. She was the last one called up, and she said she was so nervous. But apparently her two minute speech about Destin, Florida, was a big hit.

Kudos to you, Shelby! I am so proud of you! You are always the first place ribbon in my award show! Keep up the great work!

Day Three Hundred Thirty Six 2010

This little wren was fearlessly eyeballing a big fat cat that was skulking around the deck this afternoon. The cat never saw the bird, which eventually flew away. Must be nice--having wings.

Day Three Hundred Thirty Five 2010

Buddy Cat was in hog heaven this morning, sprawled out in front of the fire in the wood stove. He's been there all day, which is a good place to be on a December first, when even the sun is cold.

Day Three Hundred Thirty Four 2010

"November comes
And November goes,
With the last red berries
And the first white snows.
With night coming early,
And dawn coming late,
And ice in the bucket
And frost by the gate.
The fires burn
And the kettles sing,
And earth sinks to rest
Until next spring."
~~Elizabeth Coatsworth

Goodbye, November. Fall is nearly gone. Winter is three weeks away. Time to fatten up and hibernate.

Day Three Hundred Thirty Three 2010

Here's a blast from the past around this time three years ago. Grandson Elijah, who was fifteen months old at the time, was all decked out in his Big Orange outfit, raking leaves in my front yard. Time is flying!
