This little wren was fearlessly eyeballing a big fat cat that was skulking around the deck this afternoon. The cat never saw the bird, which eventually flew away. Must be nice--having wings.

Cute!! As long as the wren had his eye on the cat, he was safe. Since you said it was a big fat cat skulking around, it could not have been Buddy! :-)
No, it wasn't Buddy :) It's a big black white and orange cat that comes around looking for food on the porch. It wears a pink flea collar, so maybe it's a she.
... or maybe it's just a sissy cat! :-)
