“…I want to run the beach's length, because it never ends.”
~Deborah Ager
Sunshine was rare today. There is a developing tropical storm headed this way in the next day or two.
Blue and gray. Mostly gray today with rain. First day here that we didn’t sit on the beach at all.
We lazed around the pool instead and watched Knox splash.
Zero feet deep is perfect for him although he was fearless and waded out into the two and three feet part of the pool.
I think we found Nemo
He had more fun at the pool this morning than pint sized human beings should be allowed to have
This afternoon we spotted some dolphins feeding in the choppy waves ~ one of these days I’m going to see one jump up out of the water ~ Neil saw one the other day ~ I’m so jealous
We walked to a place on the beach called the Back Porch for supper [thanks for the pic, Kelly]
Neil was leaning out the window, watching the sun go down
The food here is most excellent
While we were eating we finally got to see some sunlight [thanks for the pic, Kelly]
We weren’t going to have dessert, but the server said they had Key Lime Pie and cheesecake ~ the Key Lime Pie was homemade but not the cheesecake, so Kelly and I decided to try their Key Lime Pie. The server also brought us a complimentary piece of cheesecake which was really nice. We all sampled the two, but the Key Lime Pie was the best ~ it tasted like Mom’s Lemon Ice Box Pie only made with key limes ~ heaven on a plate.
The sunset turned into something truly awesome after this gray rainy day [thanks again for the pic, Kelly~nice shot!] The stars are out tonight and there’s not much wind, but the waves are crazy fierce. Neil has been out there on the beach flying his night flyer RC plane. Tonight he came back in and said he couldn't get it to start ~ it landed in the water the other night and got some salt water in it which is not so good. Wonderful Wednesday at the beach even if you can't fly~

Day Two Hundred Twenty 2013
W E T
So I just did me some talkin' to the sun
And I said I didn't like the way he got things done
Sleepin' on the job
Those raindrops are falling on my head, they keep falling
~from the song ‘Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head' by Burt Bacharach, Hal David
I was officially tired of rain about a month ago. Sometimes it seems like it’s never going to stop ~ like the sun is never going to shine again, especially on days like today. This picture looks kind of like something I ran through Photoshop, but it’s just a snapshot of the water rushing around in my yard today. The raindrops made some bubbles which was kind of cool. Otherwise, it can stop now. Please. Stop.

Day One Hundred One 2013
Spring has returned. The Earth is like a child that knows poems. ~Rainer Maria Rilke
Hark! the hours are softly calling
Bidding Spring arise
To listen to the rain-drops falling
From the cloudy skies
To listen to Earth's weary voices
Louder every day
Bidding her no longer linger
On her charm'd way
But hasten to her task of beauty
Scarcely yet begun.
~Adelaide Anne Procter

Day Sixteen 2013
Wednesdays are like Mondays in the middle of the week. ~Lee Fox Williams
Another soggy day. Snow in the forecast for Thursday—1 to 4 inches.
Neighbor kitty Lily wants inside our house but settles for the cushion on the wicker rocker by the front door.
Sky, road, truck. Can you say gray?
Dropping off and picking up hubby today. Our (old) car is in the shop again, needing a new (expensive) compressor. I told Neil by the time we have all the parts replaced, we’ll have a new car.
Wednesday is ‘senior’ day at Fazoli’s, and we are happy to qualify (55+) so we can get this yummy meal (drink included) for $2.99. You can also choose pasta Alfredo (heart attack on a plate). Fazoli’s is the only spaghetti sauce I like besides my dad’s recipe. We ended up eating supper right after Neil got off work at 4:30. I think this completes our geezer-hood.
No such thing, ever, as a ‘speedy checkout’ at Wal-Mart, especially when everybody is there buying milk and bread for the impending blizzard. We wouldn’t have been in here at all if I hadn’t been out of my allergy med, and Neil figured he’d buy some ammo for his dad’s old rifle or shotgun, I forget which. (He says the bullets are called ‘shorts’ and did manage to get a couple boxes.) Why am I telling you this? I have no idea. Happy hump day!

Day Eighty Four 2012
Hubby Neil and I hit the Nashville Flea Market today. We don’t normally go on a Saturday because it’s so crowded. That was the case today for sure. Plus, we got rained on the whole time, and that’s unusual. This big ole welded steer didn’t seem to mind the wet.
The vendors had to keep their goodies covered. This poor mismatched lady hid under a tarp. Can’t say that I blame her.
March and April are the best months to buy plants at this flea market. Lots to choose from today.
Driftwood. Part of the let’s-get-wet theme today.
Water skis for sale alongside old shutters and old-looking new buckets (or baskets).
Today was most definitely mermaid day at the flea market. They were everywhere.
Sad clowns aren’t as scary as smiley clowns. In my opinion.
Very cool Groucho Marx doll. May have been a puppet or marionette.
One vendor had some really nice Civil War memorabilia. Confederate, of course.
I liked this bust. Would be cool to place it somewhere in a garden and scare somebody half to death.
This sign went perfectly with the wet theme. It was, indeed, Waterville today. Makes me want to head to the beach.
I was so tempted to buy this old Japanese tea set because I’ve collected a few pieces over the years. I tell myself I don’t need it and have no where to put it and that usually does the trick. I walked away.
These sweet bears were loved to death. Makes me want to cry.
Beautiful wedding ring quilt. I want it! No. Walk away!
Did I tell you it was mermaid day at the flea market? Everywhere.
See….
I may print this out and hang it on my fridge just to remind me that this is what I’m going to look like if I don’t start exercising again soon.
So many weird little things here.
It’s a law that there has to be deer heads for sale at the flea market.
Speaking of heads, this poor lady has lost hers. And her legs.
No wait here it is……
This guy is having a really bad day.
Gratuitous self portrait—I’m split in two!
Could be useful….
Crocks. Love ‘em! Wanted all these. Even one was too pricey.
Stuffed Badger. Why?
This vendor had all sort of fresh herbs for sale. She had such a pretty booth, full of plants.
Another mermaid….
Very scary fireplace andirons. Nightmare stuff.
Oh the mermaids…This one was carved from wood.
Pretty cowgirl boots and a lacy umbrella. For some reason, this reminds me of Stevie Nicks…..
Quite a selection of movies, with two of my favorite things—vampires and zombies.
Cupie dolls=Happy Faces!
The saddest little cherub I ever did see. Sweet.
I wanted these beautiful vintage boots!!
Won’t see this again, all you ciggie smokers out there. Kind of like gas prices….
Soaked!
Just as we were leaving the flea market, blue sky finally breaks through.
I-24 on the way to daughter Kelly’s house—like driving in soggy fog. All in all, a great day to be a mermaid.
Of course, the best part of our little day trip is seeing daughter Kelly, son in law Kerry, and the star of the show, grandson Knox. He just woke up from his (brief) nap and is still in his straight jacket, I mean, swaddle. He sleeps better wrapped up in this thing, believe it or not.
Freedom! Big stretch.
Big smile for Granny and Grandpa.
Look at that face! What’s not to love. He’s a sweetie. We had a great visit. Thanks again, Kelly, for the delicious crock pot roast and veggies! That was a treat. Love you guys!
