Day One Hundred Fifty Four 2011
It's National Doughnut Day, which is supposedly a real holiday created by the Salvation Army in 1938 to honor the women who served doughnuts to soldiers in World War I. It is celebrated on the first Friday in June. Doughnut shops around the country are giving away a free doughnut today. Hubby Neil and I will always take advantage of any excuse to head over to Ralph's Doughnut Shop and pick up one or two or three. (No freebies here) My fave is the cake doughnut with vanilla icing and sprinkles. I can't think of a better way to have a happy TGIF. Sweet!

Day One Hundred Fifty Three 2011
Grand daughter Shelby amused herself this afternoon playing on a web site called Dress Up Girl. She enjoys dressing the models in different clothing and hairstyles and accessories. Not only can she dress up girls, she can decorate cakes, like she's doing here--don't you love her finished product?--groom cats and dogs, and decorate rooms, among other things. It looks like fun. I may try it sometime. And I'd love to have a piece of that cake!

Day One Hundred Fifty Two 2011
It's June already. How did that happen? June means summertime. Summertime means dandelions all over the back yard. Pick one, blow on it, and make a wish.

Day One Hundred Fifty 2011
My hubby Neil pulled an old pair of boots from the wood shed to put on while he was doing some digging in the yard today and found a bird nest in one of them. Apparently, these boots have been in the shed for quite some time. The nest looked old and used, no eggs. I hope whoever built it doesn't come back looking for her home.
