Day Two Hundred Thirty Four 2013
This is our second trip to Ralph’s Donut Shop this week [and it’s only Thursday].
Cheaper by the dozen. We like their new orange cream filled ~ so yummy!
Grandson Knox could hardly wait to bite into his chocolate covered cake doughnut. He was done about four bites later. It’s not the quantity but the quality, you know.
Look who popped in to share a doughnut with us ~ niece Julia and niece Sarah [actually we knew they were coming over to visit and called them while we were at Ralph’s so they could put in their doughnut order].
Good times clowning around with peeps on a Thursday night!

Day Two Hundred Thirty Two 2013
Terrific Tuesday
A day without bubbles is a day without joy.
Grandson Knox lulled to sleep in his swing, holding a bubble wand that is his favorite color
A day without rain … would be a shock at this point
Grandson Elijah insisted that watching SpongeBob would not be a distraction while doing his math homework. He was wrong. Thank goodness for erasers.
Granddaughter Shelby gave her homework the raspberries ~ might be more fun if it was on her iPad
This evening, somebody [Neil] mentioned doughnuts, and we were all over it at Ralph’s. Knox knows what he wants. That one!
The full moon was gorgeous tonight hanging there in the clouds over West Side. Cell phone camera can do only so much ~
Just dump me in the box and I’ll eat my way out
Mm mm……it’s that good! Doughnuts help make a Tuesday even more terrific. Hope yours was, too!

Day One Hundred Seventy Seven 2013
Granddaughter Shelby and grandson Elijah spent the day with me today. We finally took a break from veg'ing out and headed to one of our favorite sweet shops for yummy doughnuts. This may have been the highlight of our whole day. It’s Summer, so we’re allowed.

Day Twenty Five 2013
Grandpeeps Elijah and Shelby are hanging out with us this weekend while their mom and dad are away celebrating their anniversary. The kids had an unexpected ‘snow day’ today, minus the ever elusive snow. We hit KFC for some Colonel Chicken for supper tonight before the streets started to freeze over.
And then we hit Ralph’s Donut Shop before heading home. (I couldn’t even think about a donut after stuffing myself with chicken.)
That’s what makes you beautiful. Shelby’s got moves like Jagger, or maybe One Direction, playing Just Dance 4, right after pigging on KFC. Only a very young person could pull that off without losing her dinner. This should be a busy weekend.
Happy TGIF, everyone!

Day One Hundred Seventy Three 2012
Grandson Elijah and I spent the day together. This afternoon, we hit the doughnut shop for some sweet bites.
As the line from the song ‘Horse With No Name’ goes “The heat was hot…..” He wanted me to jump on the trampoline with him, and we did for maybe five minutes, until we both decided we’d be a lot happier and much cooler inside. The soles of our feet were cooked.
He entertained himself off and on today with his new Lego Batman 2 video game for his Nintendo DS. He couldn’t wait to get this one and used some of his own money to buy it. He got to be all sorts of heroes, like Superman, Green Lantern and Flash, to name a few. Way cool game. Way cool kid.

Day One Hundred Thirty Eight 2012
RANDOM
Yesterday at the DQ: Double Fudge Frozen Hot Chocolate. Can you say Yummy?!
This afternoon on my front porch after school: Peeps! grandson Elijah, niece Sarah, granddaughter Shelby and niece Julia.

This evening after supper: side trip to Ralph's Donut Shop for these things called 'fruit bars'--three for the price of a donut--raisins and something like gingerbread and icing on top. Can you say Yummy one more time?!
On the way home through the town square--that fat cloud looks kind of like whipped cream. (I think I could use some exercise.) It was a beautiful day in the neighborhood.

Four years ago today, my little brother, Rob, passed away unexpectedly. Missing you, little bro! Rest in peace.

Day One Hundred Eleven 2012
This afternoon after school, niece Julia, grand daughter Shelby, grandson Elijah, hubby Neil and I hit up Mae Pearl's for some tasty frozen yogurt. And THEN we landed at Ralph's for some tasty doughnuts. Oh yum! Actually, we were so full from the yogurt that nobody ate a doughnut. But they'll make a nice breakfast treat in the morning. Or maybe a midnight snack tonight. Did I mention that Neil and I are going to see 'The Hunger Games' this evening? After supper, that is. Happy TGIF, everyone!

Day One Hundred Fifty Four 2011
It's National Doughnut Day, which is supposedly a real holiday created by the Salvation Army in 1938 to honor the women who served doughnuts to soldiers in World War I. It is celebrated on the first Friday in June. Doughnut shops around the country are giving away a free doughnut today. Hubby Neil and I will always take advantage of any excuse to head over to Ralph's Doughnut Shop and pick up one or two or three. (No freebies here) My fave is the cake doughnut with vanilla icing and sprinkles. I can't think of a better way to have a happy TGIF. Sweet!

Day One Hundred Fifty Five 2010
National Doughnut Day!
Awesome cloud view on our way to Ralph's Donut Shop here in Cookeville, Tennessee. It is National Doughnut Day (whoever made that one up is a genius). What's not to celebrate about that?
