Day Three Hundred One 2011

Our deck is decked out with Autumn leaves. On wet days like today, it seems like most of them end up in the house. Happy TGIF, everyone!

Bittersweet October. The mellow, messy, leaf-kicking, perfect pause between the opposing miseries of summer and winter.

We couldn’t have asked for more perfect weather for this annual event. This was the first time the public was invited to participate, so there was a huge turnout. Holly and Jerry ran out of candy, so Shelby, Elijah and Anthony forfeited some of the candy they had collected to help feed the spooks. It was great fun seeing all the cool and spooky ways people decorated their trunks, and the costumes were awesome as always. I love this time of year!

Day Two Hundred Ninety Eight 2011

IMG_2276
Been feeling puny the past 24 hours with some kind of stomach bug (or maybe it was that burger I ate for lunch yesterday, who knows) so I haven’t been able to eat much.  Hubby Neil brought me this DQ vanilla shake tonight. After all the Gator Aid and crackers, this tasted as yummy as it looks.

Niece Julia, grand daughter Shelby and grandson Elijah spent  some time outside after school this afternoon batting the ball and throwing the Frisbee to each other (well, mostly into the bushes). Hard to resist the call of a perfect October day when the sky is my favorite shade of blue, the sun is out and the breeze is cool, and the Red Maple in the back yard looks like its on fire. Why does this month have to be the one that flies by quicker than all the rest?
