Day One Hundred Seventy 2013
The only true wisdom is in knowing you know nothing.
~Socrates
[having a little fun today with filters on Instagram on my iPad mini~~this is one of hubby Neil’s carved faces he tends to collect~~it hangs on our deck rail and I’m amazed it still has its nose~~he looks wise, thus the inspiration for the Socrates quote~~happy middle of the week, y’all!]

Day One Hundred Nineteen 2013
Once again, our roof is covered in Maple tree seeds ~ a rite of Spring, I suppose. They clog the gutters and stick to the bottom of your shoes and get tracked through the house. I call them helicopters or whirly things. I know they are necessary to carry on the Maple tree population, yet I loathe them. I mean, why does there have to be so many of them? But, what are you going to do? Chop down all the Maple trees? It’s a thought, but I enjoy the shade they provide in the Summer, and I love their colors in the Fall. It’s my rite of Spring to complain about them. Thanks for listening.
From a small seed a mighty trunk may grow.

Day Three Hundred Forty One 2011
Here today. Gone today. Big huge fat flakes of wet snow came down hard at lunch time today, coating windshields and grass, which sent a panic through the county school system. Kids went home at one o’clock. The snow was gone about a half hour later. Best to err on the side of caution, of course. It was beautiful while it lasted.

Day Three Hundred Thirty Two 2011
Another rainy day with flooding in our yard. Some snow in the forecast, but no accumulation expected. We shall see. My one potted Geranium that I pulled up under the back porch to protect it from the frost a few weeks ago is still hanging in there, all pink and green in the dreary landscape of November. I guess it’s time to put away the Autumn decorations and pull out the Christmas things. How time flies!

Day One Hundred Seventy Six

After yesterday's gnashing of teeth over clear sealer or a yellowish wood colored stain, Neil and I settled on the clear sealer for the deck. Wise decision. The deck looks pretty good after he got it all applied. On to the next big chore on the list: painting woodwork on both porches. More fun than human beings should be allowed to have.
