Day Two Hundred Seventy Four 2012

The leaves at the top of the Red Maple in our back yard are starting to turn. Not sure whether to be glad or sad. I guess I feel a little of both.

How beautifully leaves grow old. How full of light and color are their last days.   ~John Burroughs

Day One Hundred Sixty Four 2012

I noticed a branch or two on our Red Maple tree in the back yard have leaves with red veins, almost as though they’re bleeding, or already changing color, which can’t be a good thing. I’ve never seen the tree do this before. It’s kind of weird, don’t you think?

Niece Julia, grand daughter Shelby and grandson Elijah spent  some time outside after school this afternoon batting the ball and throwing the Frisbee to each other (well, mostly into the bushes). Hard to resist the call of a perfect October day when the sky is my favorite shade of blue, the sun is out and the breeze is cool, and the Red Maple in the back yard looks like its on fire. Why does this month have to be the one that flies by quicker than all the rest?
