Day Two Hundred Four 2011

Saturday at the beach. A few parting shots as we left Destin at sunrise and headed for home. So long, Destin! Until next summer....

Day Two Hundred Three 2011

Friday at the beach. We woke up to gray skies and rain, but that was quickly replaced with sunshine and blue skies. It was our last day here, so we packed in as much beach time as possible. (I took the seagull pictures yesterday. Kelly fed them Goldfish crackers.) Grand daughter Shelby and her Grandpa Neil enjoyed snorkeling together and saw some big fish swimming around. Elijah played in the Gulf waters for a while then hit the pool, but mostly he just wanted to be in his room playing Donkey Kong. For supper, we did something totally different and went to a Mexican restaurant that son in law Jerry's friend recommended. Tijuana Flats Burrito Company in Fort Walton Beach is apparently famous for its array of hot sauces. Neil and I enjoyed our chicken chimichangas. Yummy! It's a funky little place. Colorful to say the least. The last picture is our group shot that we made yesterday on the wharf outside Fisherman's Wharf Restaurant. We have had a blast this week. As always, the time flew by way too fast. We leave it all behind in the morning with great expectations to be able to spend time here again next year.

Day Two Hundred Two 2011

Thursday at the beach. We were a bit scattered today. Hubby Neil, daughter Kelly and I hit the beach to enjoy yet another beautiful day of sand and sea. Son in law Jerry and grandson Elijah splashed in the pool and played video games. Son in law Kerry, daughter Holly and grand daughter Shelby went para sailing--definitely the most exciting past time of the day. Kerry has done this before, but it was a first for Holly and Shelby. The guy on the boat who hooked them into the sail took these pictures and then gave them the pictures on an SD card. That second picture is right at the moment they lifted off and you can see it on Shelby's face. Holly says her favorite picture is the last one, when they dunked them in the Gulf. Great shots! They had a blast. Shelby wanted to do it all over again when they got back on the boat. Para sailing will most definitely be on the to-do list for our trip next year. Tomorrow is our last day in Destin before we hit the road home on Saturday. We're not ready to leave!

Day Two Hundred One 2011

Wednesday at the beach. Daughter Holly, son in law Jerry and Grandpeeps Shelby and Elijah went to play at Big Kahunas water park all day today. Hubby Neil, daughter Kelly, son in law Kerry and I hit the beach and enjoyed another perfect-weather day. I didn't take many pictures, so I thought I'd share this short video of my view from under the beach umbrella. The picture doesn't do it justice.

Day Two Hundred 2011

Tuesday at the beach. Once again, God blessed us with perfect weather and the clearest and calmest of seas. The water was so placid today that even grandson Elijah had the best time swimming around like a little merman. Grand daughter Shelby and son in law Jerry enjoyed snorkeling in that clear water. It was simply a great day to spend at the beach. We hit the Mellow Mushroom for a delicious pizza supper. After that, Elijah and Shelby climbed into giant hamster-type balls and rolled around in a pool of water. It is hilarious watching these little kids trying to stand up and run inside these huge balls on water. They had a great time. Back at the beach, hubby Neil and sons in law Jerry and Kerry did a little fishing in the Gulf but didn't catch anything. They plan to try again tomorrow. And they're looking into some deep sea fishing later this week. By the end of our days here, we are all pleasantly exhausted. Good times. Hope you can watch the short video posted here.
