Day One Hundred Seventy Three 2012
Grandson Elijah and I spent the day together. This afternoon, we hit the doughnut shop for some sweet bites.
As the line from the song ‘Horse With No Name’ goes “The heat was hot…..” He wanted me to jump on the trampoline with him, and we did for maybe five minutes, until we both decided we’d be a lot happier and much cooler inside. The soles of our feet were cooked.
He entertained himself off and on today with his new Lego Batman 2 video game for his Nintendo DS. He couldn’t wait to get this one and used some of his own money to buy it. He got to be all sorts of heroes, like Superman, Green Lantern and Flash, to name a few. Way cool game. Way cool kid.

Day Seventy Four 2011
Some Random
Grandpeeps Shelby and Elijah on spring break this week~playing games on Nintendo DS
The Ides of March (Latin: Idus Martii) is the name of 15 March in the Roman calendar, probably referring to the day of the full moon. The term ides was used for the 15th day of the months of March, May, July, and October, and the 13th day of the other months. The Ides of March was a festive day dedicated to the god Mars and a military parade was usually held. In modern times, the term Ides of March is best known as the date that Julius Caesar was killed in 44 B.C. Julius Caesar was stabbed (23 times) to death in the Roman Senate led by Marcus Gaius Cassius Longinus and 60 other co-conspirators.
On his way to the Theatre of Pompey (where he would be assassinated), Caesar visited with a seer who had foretold that harm would come to him not later than the Ides of March. Caesar joked, "Well, the Ides of March have come", to which the seer replied "Ay, they have come, but they are not gone." This meeting is famously dramatized in William Shakespear's play Julius

Day Four 2011
Today is the first day we've seen our Grandpeeps since Christmas Day. We had a lot to catch up on--books, movies, TV shows, games and such. Elijah got his own Nintendo DS, so now he's not hogging Shelby's DS. Today, Shelby played her 'Zelda' game and Elijah was racing with Mario. They can send each other text messages on their DS's, and that would be great if only Elijah knew how to read. And spell. Neil and I are always amazed by the technology--being the old geezers that we are. Of course, these kids are growing up with it and think nothing of it--except that it's totally fun. I wonder what they will be amazed by as time goes by.
