Day Three Hundred Fifty Six 2011
Grand daughter Shelby has been playing the Wii version of the video game ‘Zelda’ this week at my house. She’s been playing for quite some time. She also has the Nintendo DS version. This week, she’s been making huge leaps in the game, and when that happens, you just can’t quit. This is literally all she did Tuesday and again today, except for a break for lunch and the occasional bathroom break. And maybe once to eat a Nutty Buddy. Amazingly, her brother Elijah has been content to sit by her side and watch her play. He gets just as excited as she does when she finally conquers something. He has even helped her out at times when she couldn’t quite get it done. I can only hope that playing the quest game creates new brain cells (problem solving) and doesn’t destroy them. At any rate, these two are having great fun in the process.
PS~Looks like I jumped the gun yesterday on the shortest day of the year. Hubby Neil says it is today. So Happy Winter Solstice, y'all!

Day One Hundred Sixty One 2011
Grandpeeps Shelby and Elijah are happy that their Granny and Grandpa finally joined the 21st century and bought a Wii. I must admit, it is very cool and lots of fun. Today they brought their Scooby Doo and The Spooky Swamp game and spent a good deal of the afternoon helping the gang battle weird and lethal zombies. In that screen shot, there is this huge zombie leading a musical band of zombies while he plays the harmonica and terrorizes Daphne and Fred. The gang and the grandpeeps were victorious in the end and advanced to the next mysterious adventure. As for myself, all I know how to do on the Wii so far is bowl. But I'm willing to learn, so who knows. Happy TGIF, everyone!

Day Four 2011
Today is the first day we've seen our Grandpeeps since Christmas Day. We had a lot to catch up on--books, movies, TV shows, games and such. Elijah got his own Nintendo DS, so now he's not hogging Shelby's DS. Today, Shelby played her 'Zelda' game and Elijah was racing with Mario. They can send each other text messages on their DS's, and that would be great if only Elijah knew how to read. And spell. Neil and I are always amazed by the technology--being the old geezers that we are. Of course, these kids are growing up with it and think nothing of it--except that it's totally fun. I wonder what they will be amazed by as time goes by.

Day Two Hundred Thirty Seven 2010
Video Mania
Grandson Elijah is four years old and has already mastered the video game controls on Play Station 2. He brought over his Scooby Doo game today and played off and on most of the afternoon. (I think the last video game I played was Pong.) By 3:30 he was ready to go outside and jump around on the trampoline for a while with his old granny. Now that I know how to play.
