The leaves at the top of the Red Maple in our back yard are starting to turn. Not sure whether to be glad or sad. I guess I feel a little of both.
How beautifully leaves grow old. How full of light and color are their last days. ~John Burroughs
"All photographs are memento mori. To take a photograph is to participate in another person’s (or thing’s) mortality, vulnerability, mutability. Precisely by slicing out this moment and freezing it, all photographs testify to time’s relentless melt."— Susan Sontag

Nice picture! I usually get a little sad when the leaves turn, but I enjoy the colors, for sure.
We noticed on Interstate 40 that some of the leaves are starting to change. Some of the maple trees here are starting to change. I just hope the colors are pretty this year with all the rain we've had. Makes me kind of sad too to see them change. That means winter is right around the corner. Ugh!
