Day Seventy Seven 2013
"March bustles in on windy feet
And sweeps my doorstep and my street.
She washes and cleans with pounding rains,
Scrubbing the earth of winter stains.
She shakes the grime from carpet green
Till naught but fresh new blades are seen.
Then, house in order, all neat as a pin,
She ushers gentle springtime in."

Day One Hundred Ninety Three 2011
Our gutters couldn't handle the torrential rain around lunch time today. What a downpour! Lots of flash flooding, lightning and thunder. Power went off for about thirty minutes. Just a good old fashioned summer time thunder storm. Lots of drowned rats out there, I'm sure. On the bright side, the plants got a good soaking, so I don't have to water them. That's always a plus.

Day Two Hundred Thirty One 2010
Blue Is Back
The view this afternoon from K-Mart parking lot looking west. Blue skies and puffy white clouds prevailed after the flooding rains yesterday. The rain finally moved on, leaving a mess in its wake here in middle Tennessee. I am fortunate to live on high ground here in our hilly little town, but lots of folks couldn't escape the rushing water. The kids and teachers gave up a snow day because many roads are impassable. The clean up is going to take some time.

I totally missed wishing my sweet son-in-law, Kerry Kimbrough, a happy 33rd birthday yesterday. He's married to daughter Kelly. Happy belated Birthday, Kerry Berry! Ma and Pa Ranft love you much and wish you all the best in the coming year!

Day Two Hundred Fifty Nine
Today's Forecast: RAIN!
Schools let out at 2 PM today because roads were flooding. When I walked over to the school to pick up Shelby, the water was ankle deep.
The road that runs behind our house and just across from the school flooded a bit, along with some pavement erosion. I did not envy the crossing guard's job this afternoon. Shelby had to remove her shoes and socks before she could walk through our yard to the house. The rain has slacked off this evening. Thursday's forecast: 60% chance of rain.
The big news in my neck of middle Tennessee today is rain. Our town got over 6 inches. This spot in our back yard always floods in a heavy rain.
