Day Two Hundred Nine

Sidewalk chalk artist Elijah. He told me this is a pumpkin which led to a conversation about how he was Elmo ('Melmo') last Halloween.

And here he is wearing some of his sidewalk chalk. It's a good thing I got a picture of his artwork, because a gully washer of a flash flood washed it all away later this afternoon.

Day Two Hundred Eight

Happy 24th Anniversary, Jane and Don!

My sister Jane and her husband Don were married July 27, 1985--24 years ago today! Here they are back in the day when they first started dating. Jane doesn't look old enough to date, and Don reminds me of Dan Fogelberg in this picture (that's a compliment, Don). And here they are 24 years later, still the loving couple and a role model for a great marriage, only with grayer hair!
God bless you today and always. I love you both. You guys rock!

And as an added bonus in today's post, my mom's recipe for Lemon Icebox Pie. She used to make this pie often and we all loved it. Today I made it with limes instead of lemons. It's very easy to make and can be ready to eat in minutes. Try it. You'll like it!

Day Two Hundred Seven

'Harry Potter And The Goblet Of Fire' is one of my favorite movies in the Potter series. ABC Family Channel reruns the first four pretty often on the weekends. I can't resist watching them. I mean, no matter how many times I've seen them...

Of course, another reason to watch 'Goblet' is that Robert Pattinson (also known as Edward Cullen in 'Twilight') is in it, playing the doomed Cedric Diggory. Poor Cedric. He never had a chance against the evil Lord Voldemort. If you've never read the Harry Potter books or seen
the movies, you're missing out on something truly excellent. I highly recommend them all.

Day Two Hundred Five

Random pictures from today...

Kay's been into the mushrooms again...

I think they're cute...

Hard downpour came up suddenly this afternoon. Neil and I
sat on the back porch and enjoyed the show. Love those new
gutters!

Between a rock and a hard place...The screen mesh
has come loose from the lower corner of the screen
door. The new kitty comes in through the gap and
climbs the kitchen door, wanting to come in. He usually
can't find his way back out. Duh! Neil calls him Sherman.
I like the name Eddie or maybe Ernie. Buddy doesn't like
him no matter what his name is!

Speaking of Buddy, he's checking out the makings for
our BLT's. He could smell the bacon frying and wanted
in on the action.

My sister Ann brought tomatoes from her garden to us this
past Thursday. They were huge and red and juicy and the
first thing I thought of when I saw them was "BLT!" Thanks
for the tomatoes, Ann!

The BLT made with tons of crispy bacon, crisp lettuce, lots of
mayo (the real stuff!) and a big slice of Ann's tomato on fresh
whole grain bread. And on the side a bowl of tomato soup and
a glass of icy Coke Zero. Doesn't get any better than this, folks!
