Day Two Hundred Eighty Nine

TGIF Pics

Daughter Kelly came in today from Murfreesboro to hang out with her niece Shelby and cousins Julia and Sarah on their last day of Fall Break. They went to see the movie 'Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs'. Here are the girls striking a pose in their 3D glasses. They loved this movie! (Thanks for the cool pic, Kelly!)

The gang's all here at Ocha Deli, our fave local Thai restaurant, for supper. Around the table from left are Kelly, Sarah, Holly, Elijah, Shelby, Julia, and Neil. We enjoyed the meal and made a lot of noise. Then somebody said, "Let's get doughnuts!"

Ralph's has the best doughnuts in the free world. Choosing doughnuts is serious business. Not really. We all knew what we wanted before we walked in the door. And off we went, back to the house, to pig on doughnuts and milk.

These are the remains of Elijah's doughnuts. He ate all the parts that really count. We all had a good time. Doughnuts make you happy for some reason.

Eddie Kitty fell asleep playing with my shoe lace. It's totally unrelated to any of the other Friday happenings. I just stuck it in here cause it's cute.
Wishing everyone a happy weekend!

Day Two Hundred Eighty Eight

Today was the first day Shelby and Elijah have stayed at my house since last Friday. So we hung out and ate Gala apple slices, all cold and crunchy, and watched some Spongebob.

Shelby decided her hair would look better with some pink and silver streaks. Stylin.

Elijah also decided that his hair would look better with some pink streaks. Way cool. Then Elijah watched some Scooby Doo on the computer, while Shelby and I got half way through 'Twilight' before Holly came to pick them up. We may finish watching it tomorrow. We may not. You never know what a Friday might bring.

Day Two Hundred Eighty Six

Each day just goes so fast. I turn around it's passed. You don't get time to hang a sign on me .....
'Love You To' ~ George Harrison

Got together for lunch with Mom, sisters, brother, nephew and nieces at Mom's place today. Ann, Ken, and Mom get ready to dig in.

Julia, Jane, and Ann caught in the act of some serious chowing down.

Ken and Chris share some laughs, while Sarah gets ready to pop open the pudding cup. We always have a great time getting together for lunch with Mom, especially during the school breaks. We laughed and cried and laughed some more and sang Beatles' tunes and ate Mom's left over cake she didn't eat because it had too much icing. Go figure. It all just goes so fast ... Good times, great memories!

Day Two Hundred Eighty Five

Indian corn is one of the best things about Autumn. My favorite is the variegated. I love all those purples, reds, and oranges.

Flint corn (usually of the yellow or white variety) is what is used for popcorn, and its flour is used to make tortillas. (I learned that just now because I Googled it.) I've had all of my Indian corn for years and years. I've learned to totally seal the box I store it in. Otherwise, hungry rodents manage to find it. One year I stashed a wreath made of Indian corn in the attic, failing to seal it inside a box. By the next Autumn, all that was left of the wreath was the naked corn cobs. Had a good laugh over that. But lesson learned.
