Day Eighty Nine

Sweet Reward

Granddaughter Shelby made four As and four Bs on her last report card. Neil and I took her to the Dairy Queen for an Oreo Blizzard to celebrate. She always chooses D.Q. for her sweet reward. Way to go on the great grades, Shelby!

Elijah got a sweet treat, too, even though he didn't make any grades at all. Oh well. Neither did Granny and Grandpa, but that didn't stop us from enjoying a yummy D.Q. treat, too. Looking forward to Shelby's next set of good grades!

Day Eighty Eight

All of a sudden the Forsythia bloomed. Like overnight. It wasn't there and then it was. I see it everywhere now. The bright yellow blooms were a welcome sight on this cold gray day.

Day Eighty Seven

Happy 89Th Birthday, MOM/GRANNY/GREAT GRANNY!

My mom, Hampton Gailbreath Mabry, turned 89 on Friday, March 26, 2010. Our family got together today to celebrate her latest milestone. (With another delicious cake made by daughter Holly's friend, Tammy. Well done, Tammy!)

The birthday lady listens as she's serenaded with the birthday song, sung by the whole family with great enthusiasm if not a bit off key. I think she liked it anyway.

Blow out those candles, Ma! We all enjoyed this wonderful cake and ice cream and punch, and of course Mom got cards and presents and lots of hugs and kisses, which she'd probably rather have anyway.

Family members who could make it to the party~back row from left: grandson Chris Mabry, grandson in law Jerry Myers, granddaughter Holly Ranft Myers, granddaughter Sarah Foy, great granddaughter Ashley Mabry, daughter Ann Mabry Sissom, daughter in law Cynthia Mabry, son in law Don Foy, son in law Neil Ranft, and son in law Terry Sissom. Front row from left: great grandson Ethan Mabry, granddaughter Kelly Ranft Kimbrough, granddaughter Julia Foy, great grandson Elijah Myers, the birthday lady Hamp Mabry, son Ken Mabry, great granddaughter Shelby Myers, daughter Kay Mabry Ranft, and daughter Jane Mabry Foy.

We all love you, Mom/Granny/Great Granny! Wishing you all the best today and always and wishing you many more happy birthdays to come!

Day Eighty Six

The Cute Factor

Wasn't in the mood for picture taking today, so here's a blast from the past. Elijah Man and Buddy Cat from three years ago (plus one day). We'll call this our gratuitous cute baby picture and leave it at that.

Day Eighty Five

Eddie, We Hardly Knew Ye....

The last picture I took of our sweet little Eddie Kitty this past Monday afternoon. He was sitting in a rocking chair on the back porch, watching the Spring snow fall.

This is one of the first pictures I took of him that July day last year when he crept into our yard and stole our hearts. He was so likable, our precious little nuisance. Eddie, we miss your sweet cat face at our door.
