Day One Hundred Ninety Four 2011

The Lantana is attracting butterflies (as advertised) and the bees seem to love it, too. The last picture is a little pink Dahlia blooming in the back yard. I love these (this one didn't want to show its pretty face), but they aren't doing too well this summer. Hubby Neil says you have to dig them up and separate the bulbs. I think that might be a job for the gardener in the family (Neil? Hello?).

Day One Hundred Ninety Three 2011

Our gutters couldn't handle the torrential rain around lunch time today. What a downpour! Lots of flash flooding, lightning and thunder. Power went off for about thirty minutes. Just a good old fashioned summer time thunder storm. Lots of drowned rats out there, I'm sure. On the bright side, the plants got a good soaking, so I don't have to water them. That's always a plus.

Day One Hundred Ninety Two 2011

Those lazy hazy days of summer. This was taken June 27, but it could have been taken today--the grandpeeps Elijah and Shelby chillin' in front of the TV at Granny's house. I didn't take any pictures today. Thought about going swimming, but it was so scorching hot that even that didn't seem like a good idea. So we stayed inside with the air conditioning.

Day One Hundred Ninety One 2011

My sweet niece, Sarah, turns sweet 16 on July 13. She celebrated this milestone yesterday with a dinner party for good friends and again today with cake and ice cream for her crazy relatives. We had tons of fun and lots of laugh, and I wish I had another piece of that yummy chocolate cake right now. As the line from a song goes, "Slow down; you move too fast!" I know you're growing up, but please, not so fast! I love to love you, Sarah. You are a blessing to me and everyone who is fortunate to know you. Wishing you all the good things in life you so richly deserve today and always!
