Thrilling Thursday
Neil and I have eaten our lunch in Dogwood Park almost every day this week ~ very enjoyable ~ although the picnic table was pretty soggy today after the rain ~ lots of people in the park with the same idea
We started out gray and finally turned into blue ~ not too shabby
We took a quick stroll around the park after lunch ~ Neil spotted this kite eating tree ~ Charlie Brown must have been around somewhere
I Spy with my little eye ~ a butterfly ~ see it? As I was heading across the back yard on my way to pick up Elijah after school, I saw this large butterfly [flutterby] soaring along from plant to plant ~ I only had my cell phone camera and managed to snap a picture before it was gone ~ it was really beautiful but it’s washed out in the bright sunlight ~ I was thrilled to get this shot ~ so I guess that makes this a thrilling Thursday. It’s the little things. Happy first day of August!

Day Two Hundred Twelve 2013
Wonderful Wednesday
"What has happened to summer,
That's what I want to know.
Is she on a vacation -
Who knows where did she go?
Tell, what was she wearing;
A zephyr breeze and rosebud
Or grass and wild berry?
Could she be honeymooning
With spring or early fall
Or has she gone so far away
She'll not return at all? "
~ Dorothy Ardelle Merriam, One July Summer
End of July ~ it hasn’t felt like Summer all Summer. Yet. Did you have a wonderful Wednesday?

Day Two Hundred Eleven 2013
Terrific Tuesday
I picked up granddaughter Shelby after school today ~ not something I usually do
She’s so pretty in pink!
After school seemed like a good time to visit Poet’s On The Square coffeehouse and treat ourselves ~ Frozen hot chocolate for me ~ served up in a Mason jar ~ yummy
Shelby and Elijah both ordered hot chocolate ~ whipped cream on top, of course ~ They enjoy chilling in these comfy swivel chairs ~ It’s a nice place to relax after a hard day at school
When Holly came to pick up the kids, she brought me this bouquet of Black-eyed Susan’s from her yard ~ What a nice surprise!
You never know what you’re going to get when you slice into a cantaloupe ~ This one turned out to be another sweet surprise
Neil and I made BLT’s for supper ~ one of my fave summertime meals [although these are yummy any time] ~ Thanks to my sister Ann for sharing her homegrown tomatoes ~ All it took was one juicy thick slice to cover all that crispy [almost burnt but that’s the way I like it] bacon
Tomato soup, BLT’s, cantaloupe ~ it’s what’s for dinner [supper if you live in the South] [I’ve had those pumpkins since last October and they’re still hanging in there] Hope you had a terrific Tuesday, too.

Day Two Hundred Ten 2013
Miscellaneous Monday
Lunch in the gazebo at Dogwood Park with my honey/hubby Neil ~ those cool breezes felt like fall ~ noisy there today ~ they were cutting down a huge dead tree by the picnic tables near the stage
Down my street ~ the weather today was perfection
Seedless black grapes ~ yummy but kind of dry ~ thinking about using them in some chicken salad with some apples
My Geraniums have had a tough time blooming this summer ~ they like heat and sun ~ a rare commodity this July ~ very unusual
Creepy crawly on my backyard garden flag [garden?]
Sunset in the Kroger parking lot ~ Neil was pumping gas into my grannymobile [dirty windshield ~ must get car wash] Neil was aggravated at the guy in the car next to us because the guy’s wife/girlfriend/whatever was out there pumping the gas while he waited in the driver’s seat ~ I thanked him for pumping gas into the car I drive every day ~ and for still being so chivalrous [he still opens my car door for me almost all the time] Monday wasn’t so bad, was it?
There are no miracles on Mondays.

Day Two Hundred Nine 2013
This praying mantis hitched a ride on our rear view mirror today. He must have been on his way to church, it being Sunday and all. We’d already been to worship service, so he missed the sermon. But he did get off in the church parking lot when we stopped by there to pick up Neil’s truck after lunch. Perhaps he’ll make it to the evening service.
