Day One Hundred Forty Nine 2012
We enjoyed a low key Memorial Day, swinging on the front porch and then watching the fountain at Dogwood Park this afternoon. The sound of the water lulled grandson Knox right to sleep. A nice lady offered to take our picture.
Happy Memorial Day, America! A heartfelt Thank You! to all those who served this country in the armed forces and gave their lives so that we can live in freedom.

Day One Hundred Thirty Four 2012
Daughter Holly and granddaughter Shelby came by this afternoon to deliver a beautiful hanging basket of flowers, plus some citronella plants to keep the 'skeeters' away, and a sweet card, all to wish me a happy Mother's Day. Grandson Elijah stayed home with his dad to nurse an injured foot. Elijah was jumping over a big bouncy ball in his yard yesterday afternoon and landed on his foot in a way that hurt it pretty badly. His foot is swollen and very sore and he can't walk on it. For mom Holly, just another day in her busy life. She's a terrific mom and, alongside husband Jerry, is rearing two great kids. Happy Mother's Day, Holly!! I love you so much, and I'm happy that we got to spend a little time together today.

Day One Hundred Thirty Three 2012
Visiting daughter Kelly and grandson Knox today for Kelly’s very first Mother’s Day. She’s a great mommy, who—along with husband Kerry—is rearing a—how shall we say—‘quirky’ son. He’s always in motion when he’s awake and unpredictable from day to day. Keeps his parents on their toes. Never a dull moment. Knox is totally precious. I could squeeze the stuffing out of him. Happy Mother’s Day, Kelly!! I love you so much and am so blessed to have you in my life!! Never doubt that you are a wonderful mom. Knox is blessed to have such a loving and caring mother.

Day Seventy One 2012
Neil and I put on our walking boots again today and headed around the neighborhood for a Sunday hike. We always take a different route, just to keep things interesting, so we cut through the woods behind our house when we came to that point. Found an old bottle buried in the ground and a weird rusty pipe sticking up out of a tree trunk. We walked through a neighborhood that has a brook running alongside the hilly properties that I didn't realize was there. Really pretty, especially the soothing sound of the rushing water. What a gorgeous day! I had to take off my sweater, cause I worked up a sweat hiking up the hills. Felt like a hike at times. We always manage to come full circle eventually, this time cutting through the elementary school driveway and into our back yard and onto the front porch swing for a little R&R. I forgot to check our departure time, but Neil says we walked for a half hour. I just smile and nod and drink my water and enjoy the breeze.

Day Sixty Four 2012
Well, here we go again. Hubby Neil and I went for a walk around the neighborhood this Sunday afternoon.
What an awesome day! The wind was cold and biting again this time around, but the sunshine sure did feel good.
Found object--a big metal washer laying in the road by the sidewalk. Don't ask me why I feel compelled to pick up such stuff and stick it in my pocket, but I do. Hope nobody needs it cause it's not there any more.
A little shadow play on a neighbor's fence.
We enjoy walking down this little side road that's part dirt and gravel and part pavement. We live less than a mile from the courthouse square, but walking here makes me feel like I'm out in the country.
That's our little brown house way up yonder.
Hubby Neil, moi, and Neil's walking stick for this trip around. He collects them and always carries one when we walk. You never know when you might be attacked by a mad dog or a wild possum or bear or something. Good to have a weapon, I guess.
Flowering trees are already flowering around town. Too early, but what can you do. Not sure what this one is, but it was pretty against the blue sky and puffy white clouds.
Looks like the irises along this old stone wall are next in line to sprout.
Found object number 2--little red chain laying on the sidewalk outside the elementary school. Guess I'll add it to my weird little found object collection.
The need to keep the wind off my ears overrode my hating to wear a hat because I look goofy in one. See, I have the picture to prove it.
I never get tired of taking pictures of the sky. It is ever changing, different every day and sometimes minute to minute.
No escaping the hills in this town and our neighborhood.
From whence we came--gets your heart pumping!
Cutting through the woods...makes the walk shorter. We walked for about 20 minutes. Time to come in out of that cold wind. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Day Fifty Six 2012
Sunny, windy Saturday. The wind had a bite to it again today. Mother Nature seems to believe it's March already. Hubby Neil and I let the wind blow us once around the block. We did manage to make it back to the house, even though the sign said 'stop'. Hope you are having a groovy weekend!

Day Forty Two 2012
Saturday greetings from what feels like the North Pole! Hubby Neil's fur lined mad bomber cap and my fur trimmed hood sure felt good today while we were out and about this afternoon in 25 degree weather. We got a dusting of snow last night, but thankfully the sunshine was back today. Winter has returned with a vengeance to middle Tennessee. The mild temperatures have spoiled us rotten!

Day Thirty Four 2012
On February 3, 1953, my dear mom, Hamp Mabry, turned me loose in this world, and I thank her for that, because so far it's been a most interesting and joyful and fruitful journey. This evening during my birthday party, my brother in law Don Foy did the math, and so graciously pointed out to me that as I complete my 59th trip around the Sun, I have traveled 1.50, 000, 000, 000, 000, 000, 000, 000 miles. I don't know if a name can be put to this number. All I know is that it's a lot of miles, and God has blessed me richly every mile of the way, and I thank Him for that. Thanks so much to my family who made my birthday so much fun as they always do each year. So generous with gifts and best of all so generous with love and affection and that's what makes all those miles worth while. Looking forward to the rest of the trip! (In this picture taken by my sister Ann Sissom on 2/2/12~~ my mother and I. ~~I love you, Mom! Thanks for having me!~~)

TGIF Snapshots And Sounds From My Front Porch
You'll probably have to scroll down to the bottom to mute or stop the songs playing from Playlist.com to hear the sounds on this short video. It was a beautiful day to be sitting outside on the front porch, listening to the wind play the wind chimes and blow through the trees. Peaceful. Happy TGIF, everyone!
