Fresh and Frozen - Vintage Fruit
Feeling patriotic today. Or maybe fruity. I’m not sure what inspired me to arrange fresh strawberries and frozen blueberries on this plate I bought at the Nashville Flea Market last Friday. The vintage feel of the plate seemed to call for a vintage photo look, so I ran the photo through filters and frames on http://pixlr.com/o-matic/ and here you go. More fun than a human being should be allowed to have in the span of fifteen minutes. Happy Thursday, everyone! Hope yours was inspired.

Day One Hundred Seventy Two 2013
NASHVILLE FLEA MARKET
Neil and I spent part of the first day of Summer melting in the heat at the Nashville Flea Market. I think last time we were here, it was Winter. [This expensive horsey could use some Crest White Strips.]
I thought this was just plain weird and creepy, so naturally I took a picture of it. The vendor in this booth wanted to know why I was taking a picture and what I was going to do with it and said I should ask before taking a picture. Apparently, he knew someone who had her stuff on display somewhere and someone took a picture, then used it to create a greeting card and made lots of money and didn’t give her credit for the image. I asked him if he wanted me to delete the picture. He said no and became apologetic [sort of] and I told him all I wanted to do was share it on my personal blog. I asked him if he made this [whatever it is] and he said no and I think at that point he realized he really didn’t have a case. It’s not like he had a patent or a copyright on it [like 99% of the junk at the flea market]. But, hey, maybe I should create a greeting card or T shirts using this image and make millions of dollars. Over all the many years we’ve been coming to this flea market, there has been only one other instance of a vendor questioning my picture taking [she seemed to think I was stealing her chandelier design ideas when all I was doing was taking a cell phone camera picture of a pretty light fixture display.] Anyway, I’ll get off my soap box now. I just had to vent a little about people who take their junk a little too seriously.
Angels don’t care if I take their picture.
Does anybody really know what time it is?
I love the expression on that bear’s face.
Buy a vowel.
Pick me! Pick me!
The funniest things at the flea market are deer heads because they end up in the strangest places.
American flag displays always catch my eye.
One of my favorite past times.
Something caught Neil’s eye ~ don’t know what.
She’s got feet down below her knees.
We saw lots of these big letters around the flea market today.
I wonder if I could’ve watched ‘Day Of Our Lives’ on this thing. I missed it again today. [You could pick up most anything if you adjusted the rabbit ears.]
Salute!
Love old boxes, especially if they have signs on them.
Green bottles
Purple bottles
Blue bottles
This was the coolest light bulb
Got mouth breath?
Give peace a chance, y’all.
We all know what happened to Nixon. I’m wondering whatever happened to Weldon Grimsley. That’s, like, the best name ever.
You better not cry. I’m tellin you. Don’t even think about it.
Must be G.I. Joe. Ken doll was never this pumped/ripped. Poor guy. Some veterans get no respect.
Dolls at the flea market always make me feel a little bit sad. And totally creeped out.
This is for my brother Ken who was driven insane by one of these when our little brother Rob was a small child. Tick tock.
I like these.
And these. They were huge. And pricey.
From a bygone era ~ I wonder if little boys still play with stuff like this.
Made me smile
Just another one of those bizarre things you see at the flea market.
Nashville cat
The Nashville Flea Market is still open, but I’m still seeing signs here asking people to help save the fairgrounds which is the home of this flea market.
I’m Batman!
It’s sad when people can’t speak for themselves.
93 degrees when we left Nashville and headed to daughter Kelly’s house. The clouds were awesome.
We went to Toots for supper with grandson Knox, Elmo, and daughter Kelly.
Knox in the Mac n Cheese zone. He dipped his noodles in ketchup. It was kind of gross. But he liked it.
Yummy boneless chicken and big fat onion rings.
We went to this really pretty shady park in an older section of town where Knox and Elmo enjoyed the swing.
The curly slide was fun.
Actually, all the slides were fun. [Elmo crash landed]
After the park, we went to Karin’s Kustard where we met up with son in law Kerry after he got off work.
This tiny little place was hoppin busy. Cars were lined up into the street. They serve up all sorts of frozen treats and other good stuff to eat. You can walk up and order or go through the drive through.
My vanilla shake [97% fat free] was so thick I had to eat it with my straw. Very yummy.
Awesome sunset on the way back to Kelly’s. Good times today. What a great way to kick off the Summer. Happy first day of Summer, everyone!

Day Fifty Four 2013
Saturday Saturday Ever Lovin Saturday!
Neil and I began a busy Saturday this morning watching grandson Elijah’s last Vision Basketball game of the season.
Lots of action from one end of the court to the other. Elijah scored several points. His blue team lost to the orange team by 4 points.
We’ve loved watching him play basketball each Saturday for the past two months because the game is action packed and he has enjoyed playing it so much. Great job, Elijah and team blue! We’re proud of you!
After the game, Neil and I headed to the Nashville Flea Market. We usually avoid the Saturday market because it’s wall to wall people. This bell jar stuffed with grapes caught my eye. It was kind of pretty and a little strange. But that’s what the flea market is all about.
Hints of spring all around. Metal sunflower garden ornaments were sprouting at this vendor’s stall. Sunflowers are happy things~~real or otherwise~~and always make me smile.
A basket of colorful bowling balls and pins. They looked plastic, but were the real deal.
This one’s for Sarah.
R is for …
This lady was begging me to take her picture. She just didn’t know it. Shame on me. But her hat was killing me. I followed her around for a while. She fit right in here.
This was something from a bygone era offered in a comic vendor’s stall. Check out that price tag.
Every time I see bunnies, I think of my sister Ann.
It’s a little early for Halloween, but there ya go.
I have no idea what these things are or what they’re for but they kind of creep me out.
Guess what movie this horse head (lamp) made me think of. I wonder if anybody made this vendor an offer he couldn’t refuse. (That was a hint)
I go to pieces, sang Peter and Gordon. Remember them? And Patsy Cline sang I fall to pieces. I wonder what happened to this poor doll. Maybe she was loved to pieces.
I really wanted to buy this.
Such good advice.
After the flea market, Neil and I were headed to daughter Kelly’s, but when we called, she and Knox were going down for a much needed nap. So we detoured into the Super Target in Smyrna and enjoyed a skinny vanilla latte while we rested our tired feet. Then we browsed Target. What a cool store. Wish we had one here.
Hi. I’m Knox. I just woke up from a two+ hour nap.
Grandpa and Granny brought him a SnugAMonkey from Target. It’s soft and cuddly and plays soft bedtime sounds and music. He loved it. And the box it came in. He calls Neil ‘Pa’. He hasn’t learned how to say Granny yet, although he does pronounce it something like ‘Ninny’ which is what I called my maternal grandmother.
We hit ‘Toots’ for supper and enjoyed their yummy boneless chicken fingers and gigantic onion rings. We used to have a ‘Toots’, but not any more, so it’s a treat to eat here when we visit Kelly.
The monkey enjoyed it, too.
Bath time! Splash time!
Dancing in my new jammies time!
This picture cracks me up. It was not posed and totally accidental~~grandson Knox and his daddy Kerry playing with blue balls. They even have the same facial expression. How cute is that. So we began and ended our ever lovin Saturday with balls. More fun than human beings should be allowed to have, especially in one day. It’s always an awesome day when I get to spend it with my peeps!
