KNOX GETS HIS FIRST HAIRCUT ~ ELIJAH GETS A MOHAWK
Everywhere he goes, people say, “What a cute little girl!” Even when he’s wearing obviously male clothing~like dinosaur or super hero shirts. Grandson Knox will be 18 months old June 2. His hair has grown long and sometimes wild, so his mom decided [reluctantly] it was time to cut those pretty curls.
Our long time friend and local barber, Russell, did the honors. Knox sat in his grandpa’s lap and got to wear the puppy-decorated cape.
Major dislike for the barber began when Russell wet Knox’s hair and started cutting.
At first he was resigned to the situation. Can you see that teardrop on his sad little face?
Curl after curl came off. His mom saved every one that could be saved.
Then full blown rebellion set in when the barber turned on the buzz clipper.
When the deed was done, his hair was shorter, the tears dried up, and he totally enjoyed the sucker Russell gave him. Now he looks like a little boy. Those curls will most likely grow back. As it turns out, he’s naturally got curl to his hair.
Grandson Elijah was also ready for a haircut. His mom thought he should try a Mohawk. At first, he rebelled against that idea.
The more he thought about it, the more he figured he might like it. So Russell went to work shaping and clipping.
Elijah was a bit unsure during the whole process.
Russell put some styling product in it, blew it dry and made it stand up.
He ended up liking his cut. I think it looks kind of edgy and pretty cool.
Great job, Barber Russell! And I’m so glad Neil and I got to witness this historic appearance-changing occasion. It’s T G I F, y’all! Hope yours was historic.

Day One Hundred Ten 2013
Ever Lovin Saturday!
Grandson Knox is here for a visit with his mommy Kelly. While mommy Kelly enjoyed some ‘me time’ with her friend, Grandpa Neil and I took Knox to the playground at our church. He loved every second of it, especially going down the slide. The sun was out. The sky was blue. And Knox was oblivious to the cool wind. That’s what being a kid is all about ~ happy oblivion! He wore us out. I think I need a nap, too. Happy Saturday, everyone!

Day Eighty Nine 2013
Chasing Chicks
Grandson Knox got to meet two of his cousin Shelby and Elijah’s Easter chicks this afternoon. He had a great time chasing them.
And almost catching them.
He didn’t get to hold one [for obvious reasons] but he did happily and briefly pet one. Shelby and Elijah have six chicks. Elijah named his Junior, Bob, and Mario. Shelby named hers Shelly, Lou Lou, and Chicketa [my favorite name of all]. All the peeps [bird and human] will be joining us for the Easter egg hunt in the back yard on Sunday. We’re hoping the rain will be gone by then.

Day Eighty Eight 2013
Daughter Kelly and grandson Knox are visiting this weekend.
Knox will be 16 months old in four days. He’s getting so big ~ the consummate toddler, always on the go and curious about everything.
He sat down with Elmo and his mom long enough this afternoon to watch America’s Funniest Home Videos. And then he was off again because there’s a whole house full of stuff to explore.
Happy TGIF, y’all!

Day Eighty Two 2013
[Ever Lovin Saturday![
Neil and I spent several hours this afternoon and evening with daughter Kelly, son in law Kerry and grandson Knox, who has really grown since we saw him almost three weeks ago.
His new favorite thing to do is lift this jug of detergent and carry it from the laundry room into the kitchen and back again.
By the way he grunts and groans when he’s picking it up, you’d think it was full and weighed a hundred pounds. We told him how big and strong he is, which pleased him to no end. So he kept doing it, over and over. Major cuteness.
We enjoyed a yummy lunch at The Chop House and got to sit beside the fireplace which didn’t really need to be going since the day was so mild. Knox had fun playing with cell phones and noodles. He had my phone to his ear at one point, like he was listening to somebody. He may have made a call for all I know. I would have taken his picture when he was doing this but he was using my phone.
He LOVES to be outside, and he LOVES to play with brooms.
He had more fun than pint sized human beings should be allowed to have on a Saturday afternoon.
He’ll sweep your porch for free any day of the week.
We went for a brief stroll around the neighborhood where you might hear/see a barking dog. Or even a moo cow or two. There’s a big farm close by.
He’s learning to feed himself with a spoon.
And doing a most excellent job, landing those spaghetti O’s right where they’re supposed to be.
Son in law Kerry worked hard all day (and all week) but stopped by Toots for some take out supper of chicken and fries and big fat onion rings, which is a treat for Neil and me since we don’t have a Toots any more. Thanks, Kerry! We enjoyed the meal and enjoyed those delicious dark chocolate brownies and ice cream and the whole time we got to spend with our far away peeps. And we especially enjoyed those sweet [wet] goodbye Knox kisses. Love you guys!

Day Sixty Five 2013
I used to be Snow White, but I drifted.
~Mae West
I think we’ve had more snow days in March than we’ve had the entire winter. [this makes me think of the first moon landing for some reason ~ one small step]
Lunch at Ocha today with daughter Holly, grandson Knox, daughter Kelly and hubby Neil.
Knox and his mom went back home today after spending the last several days with us. Miss you guys!

spring break!
It’s spring break for grand daughter Shelby and grandson Elijah. They spent the weekend with us, and they hung out with us today. iPad mini rules! Shelby has become addicted to Pinterest thanks to Aunt Kelly.
The Grandpeeps Knox, Shelby, and Elijah.
The snow melted in this fifty degree weather today ~ a good day to bounce on the trampoline. Superman had major static hair going on.
Sometimes when you’re small, you get bowled over by the big red ball while playing with cousins on the trampoline.
Downward Facing Dawg. Don’t you love Shelby’s hot pink knee socks?
We never get too old for bubbles. Shelby wanted to try out my ‘big’ camera and got some nice shots …
… like this one …
… and this one ~ a perfect bubble ~ and you can see Shelby’s reflection in the bubble ~ very cool shot, Shelby!
And she snapped some nice ones of cousin Knox … like this one …
… and this one. She loves photography and has a good eye.
They got in some jumping when Knox wasn’t on the trampoline.
Good times Monday! I hope the kids (and teachers) have more spring weather during the break. Today felt so good. I haven’t missed the snow now that it’s gone.
