Comfort food for hubby Neil and me on a cold January night. Thanks to my sister Jane for the veggie beef stew recipe. It was totally delicious! And much better than peanut butter.

Day Fifty 2012

God's voice thunders in marvelous ways; he does great things beyond our understanding.  He says to the snow, 'Fall on the earth,' and to the rain shower, 'Be a mighty downpour.'.... The breath of God produces ice, and the broad waters become frozen. He loads the clouds with moisture; he scatters his lightning through them. At his direction they swirl around over the face of the whole earth to do whatever he commands them. He brings the clouds to punish men, or to water his earth and show his love.  ~~Job 37:5-7 , 10-13

Day Three Hundred Sixty Four 2010

Does anyone know what kind of bird this is? He sure does love him some peanut butter. Some other critter--squirrel or raccoon I'm guessing--tore down one of the other bird feeders and literally carried it off somewhere. I haven't been able to find it, so I'm thinking raccoon. Apparently it never learned how to share.
FYI: my nature-loving sister Ann researched the bird in this picture. It is a Downy Woodpecker. Mystery solved! Thanks, Ann!

Day Forty Seven

When Pigs Fly

A whole herd of Starlings discovered the peanut butter feeder yesterday and returned this morning for a breakfast feast.

They don't care who they land on as long as they get a place at the table.

Talk about Kung Fu fighting! This Starling wasn't about to give up his peanut butter. He went into Ninja mode.

And he won. The other Starling was clearly intimidated and decided that maybe he should wait his turn for a bite. Talk about when pigs fly! This was the biggest bunch of selfish winged pigs I've ever seen. They finished off every last morsel of peanut butter. I'm sure they'll be back for more. The restaurant is always open, and we don't discriminate. Starlings gotta eat, too.
