We thought we might head to the swimming pool this afternoon, but the weather didn’t seem too promising for that, so granddaughter Shelby and grandson Elijah settled for playing Wii Sports~~ baseball, bowling and golf [both of them are learning to play real live golf]. They’re looking forward to spending the day at the lake tomorrow. That’s always fun for them and should more than make up for our lack of pool time today. Maybe next week, grandpeeps! Happy TGIF, y’all!

Day Three Hundred Fifty Six 2011

Grand daughter Shelby has been playing the Wii version of the video game ‘Zelda’ this week at my house. She’s been playing for quite some time. She also has the Nintendo DS version. This week, she’s been making huge leaps in the game, and when that happens, you just can’t quit. This is literally all she did Tuesday and again today, except for a break for lunch and the occasional bathroom break. And maybe once to eat a Nutty Buddy. Amazingly, her brother Elijah has been content to sit by her side and watch her play. He gets just as excited as she does when she finally conquers something. He has even helped her out at times when she couldn’t quite get it done. I can only hope that  playing the quest game creates new brain cells (problem solving) and doesn’t destroy them. At any rate, these two are having great fun in the process.
PS~Looks like I jumped the gun yesterday on the shortest day of the year.  Hubby Neil says it is today.  So Happy Winter Solstice, y'all!

Day One Hundred Seventy Three 2011

Grandson Elijah's tee shirt says I've Got Game, and he did, pretty much all day on the Wii. He and Shelby played Super Mario Brothers, which I think is Elijah's favorite video game. Then they both did a little target shooting with this way cool gun. They both ran out of video game steam this afternoon when Shelby dug out paper and Sharpies and made some art, and Elijah curled up on the couch. It would have been nice to spend some time outside riding bikes, but we got soaked again, so the bikes got to spend the day in the back of their mom's truck.

Day One Hundred Sixty One 2011

Grandpeeps Shelby and Elijah are happy that their Granny and Grandpa finally joined the 21st century and bought a Wii. I must admit, it is very cool and lots of fun. Today they brought their Scooby Doo and The Spooky Swamp game and spent a good deal of the afternoon helping the gang battle weird and lethal zombies. In that screen shot, there is this huge zombie leading a musical band of zombies while he plays the harmonica and terrorizes Daphne and Fred. The gang and the grandpeeps were victorious in the end and advanced to the next mysterious adventure. As for myself, all I know how to do on the Wii so far is bowl. But I'm willing to learn, so who knows. Happy TGIF, everyone!
