Day Two Hundred Forty Nine

Annual Family Labor Day Blow Out At The Sissom's

Niece Julia made Labor Day greeting cards for everyone and each one was unique. This one is mine. Thanks, Julia!

Big smiles from nieces Julia and Sarah, nephew Alex, sister Jane and Angel Button.

Big brother Ken and hubby Neil all happy in their bouncy chairs.

Sister Ann, nephew Chris (I can tell that's him because of the Blackberry that never leaves his hand), Bev Ligon and brother in law Terry, who keeps us laughing with funny stories.

Brother in law Don, niece Evan and her sweetie Shawn.

Alex, daughters Kelly and Holly, Don and niece Kendra shootin the breeze.

The only group shot I managed to get and even then not everyone was in it. Around the table from the left: Kendra Shelton, Cynthia Mabry, Evan Mabry, Ken Mabry, Ann Sissom, Chris Mabry, Shawn Scantland, Terry Sissom, Julia Foy, Jerry Myers, Don Foy, Jane Foy, Neil Ranft, Holly Myers, and Kelly Kimbrough. We enjoyed a delicious meal of BBQ, Ann's potato salad, Don's cole slaw, Holly's deviled eggs, Terry's baked beans, cantaloupe, and the Sissom's home grown cherry tomatoes. Not to mention to die for desserts like Jane's peanut butter fudge and pumpkin cheese cake.

Ann shows grand daughter Shelby, Julia, and grand son Elijah how to maneuver on the hammock.

Don, Shawn, Alex, Chris, Jerry and Neil test their skills at corn hole.

Ann and Terry's awesome fire pit. In fact, their whole yard is pretty awesome because they've worked so hard on it this Summer and it shows in every detail. It's a piece of heaven in their back yard.

Of course, the fire pit was a magnet for marshmallow roasters like Shelby and Elijah with a little help from Ann.

Elijah got a big kick out of roasting his marshmallows but had zero interest in actually eating them. Ann didn't let them go to waste.

Chris and Kelly hang out on the swing by the fire pit and check out what's happening in the world on Chris's new obsession: The Blackberry!

Jane, Terry, Ann and Cyn chillin around the fire.

The ladies try their hand at corn hole. Terry set up a spotlight so they could see where to toss their corn bags in the hole. No easy target. Kelly pitches while Holly, Shelby and Julia wait to see where it's going to land.

Evan, Shawn, Terry, Jerry, Kendra, Chris, Ann and Cyn keep company around the cozy fire.

Thanks to Ann and Terry for hosting another awesome Labor Day get together! We eat too much and laugh so hard it hurts and stay up way too late, but we always have a blast because we love each other and love being together. Our family rocks! (And rolls!) And each one is a blessing to me!

Day Two Hundred Forty Eight

The Dahlias have been the best thing growing in our neglected back yard all Summer. They're beginning to die out now...not as many blooms. I took this picture a while back, and since I didn't stop to take any new pictures today, thought I'd share it with you, just because it's pretty. I'm going to miss these colorful happy faces. Enjoy!

Day Two Hundred Forty Seven

Random TGIF Pics

This spore was caught in a spider's web on a planter sitting on the front walk. It's almost like looking through a cracked window pane.

I think this little leaf resting on the sidewalk is trying to tell us something.

It wouldn't be Friday without the sweet company of Elijah man. Grandpa was off work today, so the guys went to get a haircut together at the Village Barber Shop. Russell gave him a number 5 on top and a number 4 on the sides. Looks like the barber knows what he's talking about.
Wishing everyone an enjoyable and safe Labor Day Weekend!

Day Two Hundred Forty Six

Random Fun And Such ...

Today was Grandparents Day at Mother's Day Out. Neil and I enjoyed eating a delicious breakfast with grandson Elijah and many other assorted grannies, grandpas, and grand kids. So many that they had to set up three more tables to accommodate everyone. We had our picture made together for his MDO scrapbook. I still can't believe he ate sausage balls.

When life hands you key limes ...

... you squeeze them with your trusty lime squeezer and make key lime pie. (The pie recipe is really just Mom's Lemon Icebox Pie, only made with key limes--it's delish!)

Sometimes it helps to have an extra set of eye balls.

Elijah busted some cool moves on the trampoline this afternoon.

And wrestled with Grandpa.

The afternoon isn't complete until you've swung in circles, giggling uncontrollably, and made yourself so dizzy you can't stand up straight when you hop off the swing. Good times, great memories!

Day Two Hundred Forty Five

Check, please!

Neil and I usually end up at El Tapatio Mexican Restaurant with Holly, Shelby and Elijah most Wednesdays before Bible class. Elijah man has been paying the check since his toddler days. He gets a big kick out of doing the big guy stuff.

It's fun to pay the check. Plus, he and Shelby get to pick out a piece or two of candy from the different jars lining the counter. Sweet!
