Day Two Hundred Sixty Six 2013
FALL BALL
We’ve enjoyed watching grandson Elijah play coach’s pitch Fall Ball these past few weeks. He’s had fun playing different field positions [catcher being his fave because he got to wear the gear] and of course he loves to bat. They didn’t keep score ~ played for fun and practice although there will be playoff games. He has a few more games left, but this is the last one we’ll get to see before we head south on vacation. Next up: Vision Basketball in October.

Day Two Hundred Fifty Seven 2013
Wallowing in sidewalk chalk, grandson Knox spent the whole day creating art at his house with his mom and me, while his grandpa replaced the front porch banisters. Knox’s mom and dad are getting their house ready to sell. Knox was pretty much covered from head to toes in colorful chalk and didn't mind one bit. Good times on a gorgeous fall-like day.

Day Two Hundred Forty Eight 2013
Nine of us showed up for lunch in Dogwood Park today. Unfortunately, I didn’t get a picture of the lunch bunch. Niece Sarah got to join us. She brought sidewalk chalk which thrilled grandson Knox. When Sarah had to leave, he didn’t want to give up the chalk.
But he did get to play in the fountain, which also thrills him, so that was a fair trade for the chalk.
This afternoon, we watched grandson Elijah play in his first game of the season for Fall Ball. This time he’s playing in the coach’s pitch league ~ no more T Ball. In Fall Ball, they play for fun ~ no score.
Elijah played second base in this game and did pretty well ~ knocked a player down when he tagged her for the out. Oops.
I guess this was Fun and Games Thursday for my peeps who continue to grow up way too fast. [Granddaughter Shelby went to her first homecoming game at her middle school where I’m sure she was snapping pictures for the yearbook ~ hope she had fun, too.]

Day Two Hundred Forty Three 2013
Randomness
I was in organize mode today upstairs in the bedroom where grandson Knox plays when he’s visiting. Having grandkids is like your own kids never grew up and moved away from home. Knox obviously has a great time playing in here.
Neatness counts. But it doesn’t last. And that’s OK. The most fun can be had in making the mess.
Neil spent part of his afternoon cleaning out the debris in our 1920s basement. He always finds interesting stuff down there ~ leftovers from a bygone era ~ like this strip of linoleum that used to cover the kitchen floor, maybe back in the thirties. He also found an old rusty ax.
It seemed like a good night to make a pot of chili, maybe because it’s Football Time In Tennessee! Go Big Orange! They trampled all over Austin Peay ~ 45 to ZIP. Not surprising, but we’ll see what happens when UT plays a real team. Hope your Saturday was a winner! [So long, August, we hardly knew ya.]

Day Two Hundred Twenty Eight 2013
T G I F
Grandson Elijah, grandson Knox, and granddaughter Shelby at the depot this afternoon
On our way to Cream City for some yummy frozen treats
My frozen yummy treat was a scoop of Tennessee Fudge ice cream
Elijah chose orange sherbet. He got to choose where to go for ice cream this afternoon because tomorrow is his seventh birthday, and we were doing a bit of early celebrating because he won’t get to have his party until Sunday.
Granddaughter Shelby and daughter Holly [who rarely gets to join us for yummy frozen treats in the afternoon after school] strike a mommy/daughter pose.
Caught hubby Neil with a smile on his face. How did that happen? Must be the ice cream. And the fact that he didn’t know I was taking his picture.
Knox enjoyed his cotton candy flavored ice cream.
We played on the trains for a while before heading back home.
Pee wee baseball in the back yard ~ Knox gets a little help from his cousin Elijah ~ looks like a hit. Good time Friday with peeps!
We’ve had so much rain this summer that I’m surprised I haven’t seen crops of mushrooms all over the place. I noticed a couple growing along our front sidewalk. I love mushrooms. They’re so cute. So I had to take a picture. This one is lopsided but still cute. Happy TGIF, y’all!

Day One Hundred Ninety Six 2013
Monday Monday Afternoon With Knox
It was a beautiful afternoon. Grandson Knox braved the mosquitoes and spent some time jumping on the trampoline, blowing a few bubbles, and fishing in the watering can to see what he could catch [a very soggy leaf] ~ all of it fun. Except for the ‘skeeter bites. [Hope your Monday did not bite]
