Day Two Hundred Fifty Two 2013
Grandson Knox kicked back on a Monday morning, eating a Krispy Kreme doughnut for breakfast, and watching Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood ~ one of his most favorite shows. Life is good. Even if it is Monday. He and his mom and dad went home this afternoon. Miss you guys.

Day Two Hundred Thirty Seven 2013
This is one of daughter Holly’s neighbors [tee hee, could not resist], and grandson Knox got a kick out of petting her velvety soft nose this afternoon, although he was a bit intimidated by the size of this animal. The horse was very gentle and loved our attention. Then she suddenly turned her back on us and ambled away. To find greener pastures, I guess.

Day Two Hundred Twenty Five 2013
Randomness
When ya gotta go, ya gotta go. To Wal-Mart, that is. Which is always an adventure in shopping. I don’t go there unless I absolutely must. Wal-Mart gets its share of bashing, but I’m thankful for it all the same. It’s a love/hate kind of thing. The check-out guy was really nice.
Grandson Elijah put in a request yesterday to have some delish frozen yogurt at Mae Pearl’s after school. But he had a doc appointment, so I promised him we’d go today.
His sister Shelby had a haircut appointment today and couldn’t go with us. I pointed out that we could go tomorrow, but nope, his heart was set on having some today. So he and his grandpa and I enjoyed an afternoon treat. Shelby did get to go with her mom after her haircut ~ just so you know she didn’t miss out.
Sweet tea with lemon instead of the usual soft drinks, plus meat loaf, asparagus, and baked potatoes [nuked, actually, it’s faster] made for a pretty tasty supper. [I guess we had our dessert first, but there’s nothing wrong with that.] Hope you had a terrific Tuesday.

Day One Hundred Ninety Six 2013
Monday Monday Afternoon With Knox
It was a beautiful afternoon. Grandson Knox braved the mosquitoes and spent some time jumping on the trampoline, blowing a few bubbles, and fishing in the watering can to see what he could catch [a very soggy leaf] ~ all of it fun. Except for the ‘skeeter bites. [Hope your Monday did not bite]

Day One Hundred Eighty Eight 2013
Will you look at that! It’s blue sky and sunlight! All day! We’d almost forgotten what this looked like.
Grandson Knox enjoyed his Strawberries and Cream treat at Starbucks this afternoon.
And then he jumped up and did his happy dance ~ just because. So here we go. Another week begins. Hope yours is joyful.

Day One Hundred Eighty Seven 2013
At Wal-Mart today, grandson Knox cried big tears when we had to take his Elmo bibs, Elmo plate, and Elmo fork and spoon away from him long enough to run them through the check out scanner. You would have thought we were chopping off his arms and legs. No bagging these items. He got them back and carried them to the car and held them all the way home. Some things are sacred. You just don’t take away a man’s Elmo stuff.

Day One Hundred Eighty Three 2013
Grandpa Neil doesn’t mind doling out quarters for machines that dispense useless toys. Grandson Elijah and grand daughter Shelby love to see what rolls out of the slot. After all, it’s the little things. Doesn’t matter what it is. These machines are kid magnets. Whoever invented them is a genius. And probably a retired billionaire.

Day One Hundred Seventy Nine 2013
We thought we might head to the swimming pool this afternoon, but the weather didn’t seem too promising for that, so granddaughter Shelby and grandson Elijah settled for playing Wii Sports~~ baseball, bowling and golf [both of them are learning to play real live golf]. They’re looking forward to spending the day at the lake tomorrow. That’s always fun for them and should more than make up for our lack of pool time today. Maybe next week, grandpeeps! Happy TGIF, y’all!

Day One Hundred Seventy Seven 2013
Granddaughter Shelby and grandson Elijah spent the day with me today. We finally took a break from veg'ing out and headed to one of our favorite sweet shops for yummy doughnuts. This may have been the highlight of our whole day. It’s Summer, so we’re allowed.

Day One Hundred Sixty Nine 2013
Grandson Knox sitting in a ‘big boy’ chair today at lunch.
More fun than pint sized human beings should be allowed to have during lunch.
The Bomb Pop addiction has begun. Begging for Bomb Pops is a habit now. He didn’t even want this one.
Are you taking another picture of me, Gee? [that’s a hard G~~he can’t pronounce Granny yet] He and his mom and dad headed back home this afternoon. House is quiet. The only sound is the Elmo tunes playing inside my head.

Day One Hundred Fifty Five 2013
Randomness
This hasn’t happened in a long time ~ Grandson Knox fell asleep in my lap on the front porch swing this afternoon while his momma and daddy packed up to head back home. Miss you, little boy.
All life is a journey, not a home; it is a road, not the country; and those transient enjoyments which you have in this life, lawful in their way,—those incidental and evanescent pleasures which you may sip,—are not home; they are little inns only upon the road-side of life, where you are refreshed for a moment, that you may take again the pilgrim-staff and journey on, seeking what is still before you—the rest that remaineth for the people of God.
~from an 1855 religious text by Rev. John Cumming
Pink day lilies in Solaris color setting on cell phone camera ~ they are laying on the ground under a red maple tree, trying to crawl their way into some sunshine.
Happy June 4th, y’all!

Day One Hundred Fifty 2013
Back To Normal…………
Life can be pretty amazing. I mean, this morning, Neil and I were in Las Vegas, Nevada, saying so long to that crazy but fun alien planet, and this afternoon, we were back in our home town, sitting on the bleachers at the ball park with daughters Holly and Kelly and granddaughter Shelby and grandson Knox, watching grandson Elijah play his last T Ball game of the season. We are blessed. Life is good. Life is back to normal.

Day One Hundred Forty 2013
T BALL
Grandson Elijah in action during his T Ball game this evening. He and his team always play hard and play to win, but they lost this one, 23~12. Only two games left in the regular season.

Happy 52nd birthday, brother in law Don Foy! It was fun singing the birthday song four [or five] times. [You had to be there] And the German chocolate cake rocked! Good times.

Day One Hundred Twenty 2013
Grandson Elijah lost his second upper front tooth today. He could wiggle it, but it was nowhere near as loose as the other one that finally came out a few days ago. I told his mom yesterday that it would be weeks before this one dropped out. Shows you how much I know.
He says he really won’t be able to eat apples now, just apple slices. But Pop Tarts and bananas ~ no problem, cause they’re soft. His new teeth are already coming in. Cool kid, with or without teeth.

Day One Hundred Fifteen 2013
T BALL
Grandson Elijah had his game face on.
Lots of good fielding in the game.
And lots of good hustle.
And the batters all did their best. But Elijah’s gray team lost to the blue team 17~11. So much for Elijah’s prediction that this team would be easy [because they haven’t won a single game~well~until now]. You’ll get ‘em next time, guys!

Ever Lovin Saturday!
Grandson Knox is here for a visit with his mommy Kelly. While mommy Kelly enjoyed some ‘me time’ with her friend, Grandpa Neil and I took Knox to the playground at our church. He loved every second of it, especially going down the slide. The sun was out. The sky was blue. And Knox was oblivious to the cool wind. That’s what being a kid is all about ~ happy oblivion! He wore us out. I think I need a nap, too. Happy Saturday, everyone!
