Day Three Hundred Sixty One 2013
It’s easy when your cup is full of boiled custard and whipped cream.
Grandkids Shelby, Elijah and Knox hanging out at my house today ~ finally went outside this afternoon ~ I told Shelby to jump into the picture, so she did
Beautiful day for a stroll in the neighborhood ~ Knox is loving his new car that his Aunt Holly and Uncle Jerry and cousins Shelby and Elijah gave him for Christmas ~ it’s fun to ride when somebody is willing to push. Happy TGIF, everyone!

Day Three Hundred Thirty Three 2013
What’s the opposite of Thanksgiving food? Mexican food at El Tapatio, where grandson Knox amused himself with his trains. And, of course, wearing a napkin on your head is always a hoot. It’s Black Friday. Did you hit the sales before the sun came up this morning? I did not. Sleeping late is so much more fun. Happy TGIF!

Day Two Hundred Ninety One 2013
I tell myself every Fall that I’m not going to buy mums again. I love to set them on the front porch with the pumpkins and such, but then I forget to water them and they die, and Neil always says he’ll plant them somewhere in the yard but that never happens. Then I saw this big old pot of pretty mums sitting outside at Wal-Mart a few days ago and I had to own it [less than ten dollars ~ not too shabby] What can I say? I’m weak.
I found this witch’s boot on Etsy which I think is a pretty nifty Halloween decoration and for only ten dollars [again, not too shabby]. It made a nice addition to my front door wreath. I always have more fun decorating for Autumn and Halloween than I do for Christmas. Love the colors of Fall! Happy TGIF, y’all!

Day Two Hundred Sixty Three 2013
Randomness
At the carwash ~ so long bird poo and tree sap
This was a most welcome sight this evening ~ Slim Fast for breakfast and lunch is getting Old Fast but sticking with it ~ so Ocha Thai food for supper was quite yummy
We try to walk every day ~ mostly for any amount of time my decrepit knee will allow ~ look at all those leaves ~ you’d think it was Fall
Moving right along~ creepy picture ~ my toes look freakishly long ~ weird, huh? I was prepared to do another lap around the block, but Neil wimped out on me after only ten minutes
I tend to pick up things that catch my eye when we walk ~ like these little acorns ~ I’m a little nutty that way ~ Happy TGIF, y’all!

Day Two Hundred Fifty Six 2013
The weather has taken a sudden turn. Today was fall-like perfection. Neil and I strolled around the block after lunch. We checked out a house for sale nearby. Not for us, but for daughter Kelly and her family. It looked nice and worth the time to see what was inside.
So daughter Kelly and grandson Knox popped in this afternoon to have a look at the house. It had lots of space inside, lots of rooms and an upstairs. Kelly was torn about it, especially since she and her hubs have already made an offer on another house in the neighborhood. In the end, she decided the first house was the one for them. Knox doesn’t really care where they live I guess. He had some fun jumping on the trampoline.
Headed to Cracker Barrel for supper before they had to head back home. I’m still amazed when I run into stuff like this and it’s still basically summer, on the calendar anyway. No, there is not a feeling of Christmas in the air, thank you.
Knox waited for his mac and cheese and carrots, passing the time coloring and playing with the peg game, and sucking on lemons. He loves to suck on lemons. And not even a grimace or wince. Go figure.
Sometimes you can’t get out of Cracker Barrel without buying stuff that catches a grandson’s eye [way to go, Grandpa]. Beanie Ball Pooh and Tigger were pretty hard to resist.
Knox loves those rocking chairs, so we sat for a while and rocked after supper and Knox rocked his Pooh and Tigger. Didn’t linger too long. The wind got cold. Not used to that. Kelly and Knox didn’t linger too long with us, either. Had to get on the road back home. Lots to do to get their house ready to put on the market soon. Busy days ahead. Have a happy TGIF, everyone.

Summer Winding Down
Summer, please restart yourself. ~unknown
I suppose summer is officially considered done come Monday, even though [calendar-wise] there are three weeks left until fall. I have no idea where it went, only that it always goes by way too fast. Happy TGIF, everyone! Enjoy this Labor Day weekend.

Day Two Hundred Thirty Five 2013
My beautiful granddaughter Shelby, who is in 7th grade this year, was chosen to be on the yearbook staff. She had to sign up to do this and petition three teachers to recommend her. She found out her good news today and is very excited to say the least. I know she’ll be good at this. She already has a good eye as a photographer, so she’s looking forward to that part of it. Congratulations, Shelby! I am so proud of you!! Happy TGIF, everyone.

Day Two Hundred Twenty Eight 2013
T G I F
Grandson Elijah, grandson Knox, and granddaughter Shelby at the depot this afternoon
On our way to Cream City for some yummy frozen treats
My frozen yummy treat was a scoop of Tennessee Fudge ice cream
Elijah chose orange sherbet. He got to choose where to go for ice cream this afternoon because tomorrow is his seventh birthday, and we were doing a bit of early celebrating because he won’t get to have his party until Sunday.
Granddaughter Shelby and daughter Holly [who rarely gets to join us for yummy frozen treats in the afternoon after school] strike a mommy/daughter pose.
Caught hubby Neil with a smile on his face. How did that happen? Must be the ice cream. And the fact that he didn’t know I was taking his picture.
Knox enjoyed his cotton candy flavored ice cream.
We played on the trains for a while before heading back home.
Pee wee baseball in the back yard ~ Knox gets a little help from his cousin Elijah ~ looks like a hit. Good time Friday with peeps!
We’ve had so much rain this summer that I’m surprised I haven’t seen crops of mushrooms all over the place. I noticed a couple growing along our front sidewalk. I love mushrooms. They’re so cute. So I had to take a picture. This one is lopsided but still cute. Happy TGIF, y’all!

Day Two Hundred Fourteen 2013
Flora Friday
"Give me the joys of summer,
Of Summer Queen so fair,
With wealth of lovely flowers
And fruits and sun-kissed air!
Talk not to me of winter
With ice and frost and snow,
Nor changing spring and autumn
When howling winds will blow.
No, I will take the joys
Of Summer every time,
So to this Queen of Seasons
I dedicate my rhyme."
~Winifred Sackville Stoner, Midsummer Joys
My Geraniums are finally blooming, and that's one of my joys of Summer. Happy TGIF, everyone!
