Day One Hundred Eighty One 2013
This moth has beautiful markings and a two-inch wing span. It was attached to my front porch post all day and never moved. Until I poked it with a pencil just to see if it was alive. It flew right at me and made me jump back like a sissy girl.
I can’t believe it let me get in its face to get a close up. I never knew they have googley eyes. [I can’t believe this is how I amused myself this afternoon ~ hope y’all found better ways to amuse yourselves today]

Day Seventy Eight 2013
Come, gentle Spring! ethereal Mildness! come.
~ James Thomson
And all about, the softening air
Of new-born sweetness tells,
And the ungathered Mayflowers wear
The tint of ocean shells.
The old, assuring miracle:
is fresh as heretofore:
And earth takes up its parable of life from death once more.
~ Whittier
[We’re in the final hours of winter. Finally. Spring begins with the vernal equinox at 7:02 A.M. (EDT) on March 20, 2013 in the Northern Hemisphere. Today was a beautiful sunny blue sky spring like day, this last day of winter. But we all know ‘Mother Nature’ doesn’t pay much attention to dates on the calendar when it comes to the weather. So, for what it’s worth, goodbye winter!]

Day Three Hundred Forty One 2012
“May the raindrops fall lightly on your brow. May the soft winds freshen your spirit. May the sunshine brighten your heart. May the burdens of the day rest lightly upon you, and may God enfold you in the mantle of His love.”
~Irish Blessing
(And may your runny nose have a short life in this cold and flu season. I’m just saying.)

A Little Middle-of-the-Week Randomness
God cannot give us a happiness and peace apart from Himself, because it is not there. There is no such thing.

Day One Hundred Ninety Two 2012
There will be a rain dance Friday night, weather permitting. ~ George Carlin
Heavy rain at my house this morning—a gully washer. Granddaughter Shelby and grandson Elijah saw me outside taking pictures of it and couldn’t resist playing in the mini-river rushing down the street after the downpour. Rain is such a beautiful and rare sight these days that we all stop what we’re doing and stare at it whenever it does start to fall. (And take pictures of it….)

Day One Hundred Seventeen 2012
Let’s dance! I snapped these two ants with my macro lens this afternoon. They were crawling around on a clover flower in my back yard and were about the size of the exclamation point in that first sentence. When they found each other, they paused long enough to say ‘hi’ to each other (and for me to snap this picture while they were still) and then they moved on. Places to go, other ants to see, I guess.
