Day One Hundred Eighty Seven 2012

My Mae Pearl’s vanilla bean frozen yogurt would have been patriotic if only I had chosen blueberries instead of blackberries. In the end, the flavors are what mattered. It was totally delicious and refreshing on a hot summer day.

What a fabulous Fourth! My family celebrated America’s birthday with our annual backyard get together. We enjoyed an awesome meal, homemade ice cream, some corn hole competition, and in spite of drought conditions, managed a brief fireworks display without setting the world on fire. I love my family and I love this country and I thank God every day that I get to live in the land of the free! Happy birthday, America!

Day One Hundred Eighty Four 2012

The wind blew, the dark clouds rolled in, lightning streaked the sky, thunder rumbled, and we just knew this was it—rain was sure to fall on our parched yard.

And it did rain. Sort of. We’ll take whatever we can get and keep the faith that it will come again another day.

Day One Hundred Eighty Three 2012

0701021447
Sister Jane, niece Sarah, niece Julia, daughter Kelly, grandson Knox and I enjoyed some time together at Poet’s On The Square coffeehouse this afternoon and cooled off with some tasty frozen drinks.

Knox tried on Sarah’s sunglasses for size. Perfect fit! Way cool time at Poet’s.
