Day One Hundred Sixty Eight 2013

Cousins Knox and Elijah enjoyed some Cheerios for breakfast this morning while watching an episode of Scooby Doo. Eighteen month old Knox loves being around six year old Elijah, but not so much the other way around. For now, anyway. I hope they’ll be good buddies one day.

Day One Hundred Sixty Seven 2013

"A righteous man
who walks in his integrity -
How blessed are his sons [and daughters]
after him."
(Proverbs 20:7, NASB)

me and dad
My dad, Flynn Mabry, and me when I was two or maybe three years old. He was always so quiet and only spoke when he had something he needed to say, was often described as having the patience of Job, and he loved and provided for his family in a quiet and humble way. But most important of all, he was a Christian man who did his best to live a Christ-like life. This is what I will always remember about him. Wish you were still here, Pop, so I could tell you I love you and wish you a Happy Father’s Day. God bless all the good fathers out there. Hope you enjoyed a very happy Father's Day.

Day One Hundred Sixty Six 2013

EVER LOVIN’ SATURDAY!

My Hydrangea bushes are full of beautiful blooms. They are one of my favorite summertime things. I read in a magazine about this photographer who uses things like screens, cheesecloth, and pantyhose over her lens as filters to get different effects, which intrigued me, so I gave it a shot. I stretched one of my knee high hose over my lens and this is the results. I think it’s pretty cool.

Day One Hundred Sixty Five 2013

FLAG DAY
IMG_0065
You’re a grand old flag
You’re a high flying flag
And forever in peace may you wave
You’re the emblem of
The land I love
The home of the free and the brave

Every heart beats true
‘Neath the red white and blue
Where there’s never a boast or brag
Should old acquaintance be forgot
Keep your eye on the grand old flag
The grand old flag

In the United States, Flag Day is celebrated on June 14. It commemorates the adoption of the flag of the United States, which happened on that day in 1777 by resolution of the Second Continental Congress.  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flag_Day_(United_States)

The national flag of the United States of America, often simply referred to as the American flag, consists of thirteen equal horizontal stripes of red (top and bottom) alternating with white, with a blue rectangle in the canton (referred to specifically as the "union") bearing fifty small, white, five-pointed stars arranged in nine offset horizontal rows of six stars (top and bottom) alternating with rows of five stars. The 50 stars on the flag represent the 50 states of the United States of America and the 13 stripes represent the thirteen British colonies that declared independence from the Kingdom of Great Britain and became the first states in the Union. Nicknames for the flag include the "Stars and Stripes", "Old Glory", and "The Star-Spangled Banner."   http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flag_of_the_United_States

Happy Flag Day, America!  Happy TGIF, everyone!
