Grandson Elijah in action during his T Ball game this evening. He and his team always play hard and play to win, but they lost this one, 23~12. Only two games left in the regular season.

Happy 52nd birthday, brother in law Don Foy! It was fun singing the birthday song four [or five] times. [You had to be there] And the German chocolate cake rocked! Good times.

Day One Hundred Twenty Two 2013

TODAY …
0502031156
Neil and I got to enjoy a yummy meal at our favorite Thai food place, which finally reopened this week after being closed since the end of March.
0502031737
We got to watch grandson Elijah play T Ball. (His team lost 30 ~ 18.)
0502031827
We got to be with peeps ~ dugout daughter Holly and granddaughter Shelby and coach son in law Jerry.
0502031841b
We got to enjoy a beautiful sunset and spectacular cloud formations on the way home from the game. It was pouring rain from those dark clouds somewhere in town.
IMG_9685
And we got to enjoy coming home to a clean front porch, which took the better part of this afternoon to scrub off  the dirt and pollen and tree seeds (which refuse to go away). So thankful to have had the energy to ‘getter done’ and very thankful for this life that God blesses me with each day. It’s all good. Hope you enjoyed a blessed Thursday.

Day One Hundred Fifteen 2013

T BALL

Grandson Elijah had his game face on.
IMG_1350
Lots of good fielding in the game.
IMG_1351
And lots of good hustle.
0425031812
And the batters all did their best. But Elijah’s gray team lost to the blue team 17~11. So much for Elijah’s prediction that this team would be easy [because they haven’t won a single game~well~until now]. You’ll get ‘em next time, guys!

Day Ninety Eight 2013

I see great things in baseball. It's our game - the American game.

Grandson Elijah is back in the swing of things this evening, as he played his first T Ball game of the season. He’s a seasoned player on a team made up mostly of newbies. He’s definitely the tallest player on his team ~ The Sharks. They played hard but lost the game, 25~4.

Day Two Hundred Seventy One 2012

0927022128a
0927022131
Grandson Elijah’s Fall Ball T Ball team (The Tigers) played two games in the tournament tonight. They won their first game, but lost their second game, which eliminates them from the rest of the tournament. They played so hard and played very well in both games. Congratulations, team, for a job well done! Way to go, Elijah! You just got better and better with each game played. We are so proud of you!

Day Two Hundred Sixty Nine 2012

0925021801
Grandson Elijah’s T Ball team played in the Fall Ball Tournament this evening. His team won 26-12. They did an outstanding job, batting and fielding. The losing team was awarded medals while the winning team watched and applauded for them. Afterward, Elijah said, “But we won! You mean we have to lose to get a medal?” He could not understand it. It doesn’t make any sense, even to a six year old. Of course, his team gets to play again in the tournament. If they lose, they will get a medal. For showing up maybe? We wouldn’t want any hurt feelings. Only in America, folks. I’ll get off my soapbox now.

0924021711a
0924021732

Grandson Elijah played his last Fall Ball T Ball game this evening. His fielding is better each game he plays. A lot of these kids have improved over the past few weeks. Tomorrow evening, the tournament begins. They will be keeping score.

Day Two Hundred Sixty Four 2012

They give you a round bat and they throw you a round ball and they tell you to hit it square.
~Willie Stargell

Neil and I enjoyed watching grandson Elijah play T Ball this evening. He hits the ball hard, and he does a great job fielding. For one round of batting, the coach pitched the ball to him, instead of him hitting it off the T. He smacked it pretty far. One game left and then the tournament.

Day Two Hundred Forty Eight 2012

0904021051
Hubby Neil had the day off today. We finally made it to a local indoor shooting range this morning and did some target practice with a .22 we recently bought and also one of son in law Jerry's handguns, a Glock. This is the first time either one of us has fired a handgun. Neil did very well. He never strayed from center. (The guy next to us was shooting at a zombie target.) (Another guy was firing an AK47. Sounded like a canon going off. I feared for my hearing, even with ear protection.)0904021110
On the other hand, it took me several shots before I got used to the sight. My shots went all over the place at first, but I got better at it. I did hit a few center. The .22 is pretty easy, but that Glock certainly has a kick!
IMG_6402
We used the same target, but it's easy to see who was the better shot. Neil hit the head shot dead center (so to speak). We're going to take the handgun safety class and get our permits to carry a weapon. We really enjoyed the target practice and look forward to doing this again soon.
IMG_6400
On a much lighter note, grandson Knox is here for a visit along with his mom and dad. He's nine months old now and is crawling all over the place.
IMG_6401
He is so sweet and funny. He's waving and clapping his hands now and has his own little vocabulary.
IMG_0706
Grandson Elijah played his first Fall Ball-T Ball game this evening. He loves batting, but he made several plays fielding, getting two or three outs. His team has red shirts and they played a team with black shirts. No formal team names and they don't keep score in Fall Ball.
IMG_0709
Good job, Elijah! Good kid.
IMG_0712
After the ball game, Knox's dad Kerry sat him down in the grass. He had the best time pulling it up and throwing it around. It's the little things. Life is good.

Day One Hundred Thirty One 2012

RANDOM
IMG_4972
The birds have discovered the mulberries, which make for a very colorful mess (literally) on the windshield of my car.
IMG_4977
The baby birds have flown the nest and are everywhere. They, too, know a good mulberry when they see one.

What an awesome day! Felt a bit like fall which is always OK with me.

And last but never least, Grandson Elijah played T Ball this evening. His team, the Diamondbacks, got beat by the Reds 17~11. They played well, though, and Elijah did some great fielding. They turned an eleven point lead into a six point lead. Not too shabby.

Day One Hundred Twenty Eight 2012

It was a gorgeous afternoon for a T Ball game and a ballpark hamburger. Grandson Elijah's team is doing well so far. The Diamondbacks beat the Cardinals 25~10. Not too shabby! The umpire got whacked in the knee about halfway through the game by a little kid who slings the bat after he hits the ball. Ouch!

Grandson Elijah played T Ball this evening. He hit a home run. His team, the Diamondbacks, beat the LugNuts 23 to 1. Go, Elijah!

Day One Hundred Seven 2012

Grandson Elijah takes off after he smacks the ball in the first regular season T Ball game this evening. His team, the Diamondbacks (D'Backs) played the Astros and won the game, 16 ~ 9. Good game, Elijah!

Day Ninety Four 2012

Play Ball! Grandson Elijah played his first T Ball game of the season tonight. He was a short stop in fielding, and he ran like the wind (as you can see in the second picture) when he hit that ball. His team is the Diamondbacks (or D'Backs). They beat the Orioles 15 - 9. Good game, Elijah!

Day Two Hundred Seventy Two 2011

0929012053
0929012055
Grandson Elijah’s T Ball team, the Braves, won 2nd place in their league championship game this evening. The whole team played hard this season, especially these last three games. And kudos to all the coaches.  I’m sure at certain moments they felt like they were herding cats. Elijah is very proud of his trophy, and I am very proud of him for doing such a great job smacking those balls and fielding as short stop for his team. Good job, Braves!

Day Two Hundred Fifty Five 2011

Grandson Elijah played T Ball this evening. In these pictures, he's batting, running to first base (that blur is him) and racing to home plate. Some of the kids know what's going on and others don't have a single clue, which makes it all fun to watch and never boring.

Day Two Hundred Forty Two 2011

Grandson Elijah played game one of Fall Ball T-Ball this evening. His team is the Braves. They play for one hour and, for some reason this time around, they don't keep score. It's just for fun. Elijah plays short stop which means he gets to be in the dirt instead of the grass. He did a great job batting and fielding and gets to see a lot more action as a short stop. And he's very proud of his new cleats (he
wanted to wear them to school today). Good game, Elijah!
