This and That
Neil mowed the grass for the first time in I don’t know when today. He had to mow it high, then mowed it a second time to get it as short as possible before the next monsoon. It was slow going and took him forever. We have a mulching mower, but he gave up on that and finally just let it fly. Looks like a hay field right now. That robin probably thinks so, too.
We enjoyed another clear day. Hot and humid. Feels like August.
The blooms on my hydrangea bushes go from full color to faded, depending on how much sun we’ve had. These beautiful blooms are on one stalk~the only full color flowers on one of my bushes. So I cut it and brought it inside to enjoy.
It’s amazing what a dramatic effect lighting has in a photograph. Same flowers, different lighting.
Daughter Holly brought these to me a couple of weeks ago from her yard, and I’ve enjoyed them so much. But they’ve seen better days. I think they’re still kind of pretty even dried up. Neil wants to plant the seeds and see if we can grow some in our yard. I wouldn’t mind that at all.

Day One Hundred Thirty Nine 2011
Hubby Neil and I are 38 years old today. So to speak. We were wed on this date in 1973. We have no idea how so much time slipped by us and at the same time carried us along with its passing. He surprised me with this beautiful bouquet this afternoon. We made a pact many years ago--no gifts, but cards are welcome. We leave cards for each other all over the house on this day each year. He broke the rule, but that's OK. He does have romantic bones in his body. So here we are, still here, happily putting up with each other. I think they call that love.

Day Eighty Five 2011
Happy 90TH Birthday, Mom!
Our family is having a birthday party for her tomorrow, but I wanted her to have something special on her actual day of days, so I took her a gorgeous spring bouquet and some Krystals, with a chocolate milk quake. She was surprised and pleased to say the least. Krystal burgers are her fave (and they'd better have plenty of pickles on them!).
My mother, Hampton Gailbreath Mabry, was born March 26, 1921 in Gainesboro, Tennessee, and celebrates her 90TH birthday today. She doesn't look 90 years old, does she? She's never looked her age.

Day Seventy Four
Shelby and Elijah picked a bouquet of buttercups in my backyard last week to give to their mom. But they ended up leaving it here. It was a touch of spring in the house and sat on the coffee table until today when I finally conceded that it had seen better days and was time to go. Oh well. Spring will really be here very soon. Definitely something to look forward to.
