Day Sixty 2012

You are the sunshine of my life
That's why I'll always be around,
You are the apple of my eye,
Forever you'll stay in my heart

Day Fifty Nine 2012

My best friend and love of my life is 61 years old today. Like fine wine, he just keeps getting better with age. Happy Birthday, dear husband! I love you more than I can ever express.

Day Fifty Seven 2012

Hubby Neil and I managed another walk around the block this afternoon. Wow. Two days in a row. Didn't need a jacket today, but my scarf felt good around my neck. What a gorgeous Sunday! It looked and felt a bit like October. When we got back to the house, we sat on the front porch swing and soaked up the sunshine and fresh air. Neil thought we'd been walking for at least a half hour. He couldn't believe it when I told him we'd been gone for only fifteen minutes. Maybe we should walk more often.

Day Fifty Six 2012

Sunny, windy Saturday. The wind had a bite to it again today. Mother Nature seems to believe it's March already. Hubby Neil and I let the wind blow us once around the block. We did manage to make it back to the house, even though the sign said 'stop'. Hope you are having a groovy weekend!

Day Fifty Five 2012

0224021015Hubby Neil is in Matrix mode as we head to the Nashville Flea Market late this morning.
0224021018Never did shake those clouds. No rain, but it was crazy windy all day, and the wind was cold and sharp.
0224021200You can tell spring is on the way when bunnies start showing up at the flea market.
0224021200aThese must be those fainting goats I keep hearing about.
0224021201
I liked this cool fireplace screen. It’s kind of creepy, though.
0224021207Trust no one, Mister Mulder! There was a Scully doll, too. The truth is still out there.
0224021208You can leave your hat on. Even if you’re headless. Poor girl. At least it matched her dress.
0224021235This great sign appealed to me for some strange reason.
0224021240aSpeaking of insane….today was creepy doll day at the flea market.
0224021256What’s a flea market without socks? Neil and I actually bought some. I think that’s a first for us.
0224021305Love this sleigh. Kind of made me wish for some snow before this winter is gone.
0224021306

Today was also creepy teapot day at the flea market.
0224021310Did I mention that today was creepy teapot day at the flea market?
0224021314Creepy dolls everywhere…..
0224021315aVinyl is alive and well here. Now all you need is a turntable. You remember those, right?
0224021319The wind was so biting today that even the statues wore scarves. I had mine on. Could have used some gloves, too.
0224021342Demented Easter bunny—another sign of spring.
0224021342a
I wanted this but common sense prevailed.
0224021425Balloon man making balloon animals. What a happy job that must be.
0224021457We had a nice day at the flea market!
0224021553Before we headed home, we stopped for a visit and some supper with daughter Kelly, son in law Kerry and grandpeep Knox. Couldn’t resist a gratuitous self portrait in the bathroom mirror. Knox has on his baseball cap turned around backward. Yo! (Note the monkey on his bottom--major cuteness)
0224021840aSilly Monkey Knox was asleep in my lap and woke up when I took his picture.
0224021852aBaby hands are the sweetest things ever! Look at those dimples. Now there’s something you won’t ever find for sale at the flea market. Happy TGIF, everyone!

Day Fifty Four 2012

Fierce winds in my neck of the woods today. In fact some of the 'woods' ended up on my front porch, not to mention a rather large limb (middle picture) that came crashing down only a few feet from me and my daughter's car this afternoon as I was saying goodbye to her and the grandkids out there on the sidewalk. Had to drag the limb into the yard as it was partly in the street. Daughter Holly says her dad and I could be crushed to death in our sleep if one of our big (and dying) Maple trees gets blown over onto the house. Now there's a nice thought. Neil and I do get concerned about falling trees when the wind gets nasty. We've talked about taking those Maples down for decades now and planting new trees. Somehow I think that ship has sailed. We'd never live to see any shade from a tree planted today. But I suppose whoever ends up in this old house after we're done with it would probably appreciate the shade from some nice sturdy Maples. Something to think about. In the meantime, I'll keep a good thought that one of those old trees won't do us in sometime in the middle of the night.

Day Fifty Two 2012

Snow bunny grandpeeps Elijah and Shelby and their mom and dad had a great time this past weekend on the ski slopes at Paoli Peaks, Indiana. Shelby said they had an easier time of it after they took a ski class, and that getting off the lift was the hardest part--well, that and trying to stop once you got going. But they got the hang of it and really enjoyed it so much that they're ready to go back. Not to mention the fun they had at the water park where they stayed. (Elijah said he and his mom got stuck in the funnel and ended up going down backwards) I asked Elijah which was more fun, the skiing or the water park, and he promptly said, "Both!"

Day Fifty One 2012

I can file this one under There's Something You Don't See Every Day. Hubby Neil and I sat down to eat lunch at Wendy's today, and these two dogs are laying there, basking in the sunshine coming through the window. Big black dog and little brown dog. I've seen service animals in restaurants before (we saw a couple of wolves in Red Lobster once that were trained to alert their owner when he was about to have a seizure). But these guys were obviously pets and companions to a young man who looked like he was carrying all his worldly possessions on his back. Although these two dogs kept eyeing my lunch, they were more well-behaved than most children I've seen. When their owner was done with his lunch, he strapped on his backpack and led his obedient buddies back out on the highway by their leashes. I hope they have safe travels.

Day Fifty 2012

God's voice thunders in marvelous ways; he does great things beyond our understanding.  He says to the snow, 'Fall on the earth,' and to the rain shower, 'Be a mighty downpour.'.... The breath of God produces ice, and the broad waters become frozen. He loads the clouds with moisture; he scatters his lightning through them. At his direction they swirl around over the face of the whole earth to do whatever he commands them. He brings the clouds to punish men, or to water his earth and show his love.  ~~Job 37:5-7 , 10-13
