My Geraniums are finally blooming, and that's one of my joys of Summer. Happy TGIF, everyone!

Day One Hundred Fifty Nine 2013

Geraniums are one of my favorite summer flowers. I bought some today. Different shades of pink. No red. Red flowers irritate me for some reason. Besides, the plant guy didn’t have any red geraniums. Now I need to pot them, but that requires potting soil, which I don’t have. It’s always something, isn’t it?

Day Three Hundred Thirty Two 2011

Another rainy day with flooding in our yard. Some snow in the forecast, but no accumulation expected. We shall see. My one potted Geranium that I pulled up under the back porch to protect it from the frost a few weeks ago is still hanging in there, all pink and green in the dreary landscape of November. I guess it’s time to put away the Autumn decorations and pull out the Christmas things. How time flies!

What a blessing this rainfall has been the last three days! My only regret is that I can’t send some of it to Texas and other mid-western states that need it so badly right now.

My Geraniums continue to defy this August furnace. I love Summer, but Fall is starting to look really good right now.

My little pink Geranium got beat down by the rain today. I'm hoping the sunshine tomorrow will lift her up. I could use some sunshine, too.

Day One Hundred Thirteen 2011

A time to plant. Neil and I were planting fools all day today. I haven't potted flowers in a couple of years. Forgot that it's hard work, but kind of fun, too. Neil planted all sorts of things--hostas and ferns and some flowers all around the yard. He even moved a huge flowering bush from one end of the yard to the other to fill in the hole where a dead cypress tree once stood. Needless to say, we are pooped! It's always worth the effort, though.

Day One Hundred Twelve 2011

Picture postcards from a local greenhouse. He sets up shop here every spring and, as you can see, has quite a colorful selection of any plant you might want. I haven't set out any flowers in a couple of years and wanted some Geraniums--one of my fave container plants. These are the ones I chose (in the last picture), plus some plants called Lantana. They're supposed to attract butterflies. I like that idea.
